Unhappy Why her? - January 24th 2012, 11:08 PM

She was literally the sweetest, gentlest, most sincere person I've ever known in my life. She cared more about others than herself, and never did anything that could physically harm her. So why her?
Her name is Rachael. I met her when i was 15, at a summer camp that I used to work at. Her genuine personality caught my attention from day one, and we became fast friends. She was always there for me when nobody else was, and I could always go to her for anything.
About 18 months ago, she was diagnosed with cancer. I don't remember what kind it was originally (liver I think?), but it spread all over her body, and eventually to her brain. She went into surgery last Saturday to have two large tumors removed from her brain, and went into a coma as a result. This morning, she was declared brain-dead. She didn't deserve to die so young (she was 25), so why would this happen?

“I cannot prevent anyone from getting angry, or mad, or frustrated. I can only hope that they’ll turn that anger and frustration and madness into something positive, so that two, three, four, five hundred will step forward, so the gay doctors will come out, the gay lawyers, the gay judges, gay bankers, gay architects … I hope that every professional gay will say ‘enough’, come forward and tell everybody, wear a sign, let the world know. Maybe that will help.” Harvey Milk, 1978

I cant answer that question - nor can anyone.

I don't have any explanation for you on why she died, and why she was given cancer in the first place - and I really am sorry for your loss.

Its sad how the good die young - and the people who cause problems, and injure others get to live.

I'm here if you ever need to talk.

Best wishes to you and everyone effected by this loss,
Chris

I'm so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, no one here will be able to tell you why it was her, and not someone else. You're right -- she didn't deserve to die so young. Please feel free to PM me if you need someone to talk to.

Hello there,

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss. I can't begin to think of how you're feeling right now. As the previous posters have said, no-one can say why she got cancer and passed away. I always say that someone 'up there' wants her. I'm not religious or anything. Sadly life can be cruel but i'm sure she would like you to celebrate her life.

Keep the lovely memories of her in your mind, it'll stay there forever. If you need anything then you can give me a message.

I'm so sorry for your loss. When i lost my brother (he was 19) i asked myself the same questions but like the previous posters said there is no explanation. That's just the way it is sadly. but if it's any help atleast she's not suffering anymore (you've probably heard that already tho). PM me if you ever need to talk. Stay strong.
