I'm gonna sound like a wimp but... - March 30th 2012, 04:24 AM

My parents are having my dog put down tomorrow because he's really old and sick and suffering.

I've had that dog since I was 5 and I'm 18 now. We got him the summer before I started school and in 6 weeks, I'll be done with school. He was supposed to finish with me. And I'm so mad. My mom called me this evening and said I needed to come home because we're taking him to the vet tomorrow to be put down. And I'm just so mad I can't even think right now.

I've dealt with losing friends, losing relatives, and even in freak accidents... But for some reason this is like 30 million times more painful.

I don't know what to do. I don't feel like going to school tomorrow. I just wanna sit in my room and cry. I'm so mad.

im on my way

Hey, I know how hard it is to lose a pet. I used to have my second home on my Grandparents farm and I've/We've lost countless animals. It never gets any easier and it certainly doesn't make you a wimp.
You just have to stay strong your dog will always be with you, even if he/she isn't there physically.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.
How much you can take, and keep moving forward.
PM me if you need to talk about ANYTHING.

I live out of town, so I've owned quite a few animals, it's always hard to lose a pet. In some ways it's harder to lose a pet than a person. This does not make you a weak person. This does not make you a bad person. Grieve, celebrate the life of your pet, and move on. But don't get yourself down over experiencing a natural part of being a functioning person.
