Classic Suggestions - May 27th 2017, 06:58 PM

What are some classics that you've enjoyed? (I'd prefer the ones that aren't super long because I already own three relatively large ones).

I own:

Animal Farm
Brave new world
Short stories by Leo Tolstoy
To Kill a Mockingbird
Farenheit 451

I tend to not like most classics but I've been thinking about trying to read one classic a month. I just bought four of the ones listed above today at my used book store so I have four months worth of classics but I might end up going back to my used bookstore to pick up a few more in June.

Little Women, Pride and Prejudice (or anything by Jane Austen), The Jungle, and The Scarlet Letter are some of my favorites. I'm also a huge F. Scott Fitzgerald fan - most people gravitate towards The Great Gatsby (it's definitely one of my favorites and it's shorter, which you might like), but I think The Beautiful and the Damned is one you should definitely check out.

I really loved The Picture of Dorian Grey. It's not too long and it's quite an easy read. Plus, I own it in clothbound which makes it extra special

I have gone ahead and written these titles down. I will check and see if my used book store has them at some point. I have actually wanted to read the scarlet letter for quite some time as well as the picture of Dorian Gray.

I read the jungle in 2008 or 2009 and I liked it well enough. It definitely wasn't my favorite but I was able to make it through the whole entire book.

To Kill a Mockingbird! I totally loved that book. Even though it's not the type of literature I normally read, I adored it and I believe it brings up many important issues. And apart from that it's just a great story. Definitely worth reading.
