24 hour readathon - April 8th 2020, 06:46 PM

Hello,

I know a lot of us probably have quite a bit of time on our hands. I am going to be partaking in some reading to try and pass the time. This weekend I am planning some type of readathon. I was wondering if others would like to participate.

There are two options I am considering:

The first would be an actual 24 hour all night readathon. I'd basically start at a particular time on Friday or Saturday and I would stay up all night reading (if at all possible).

The second one is one I did last weekend and it's called 24in72. Basically I would try and read 24 hours in a 72 hour period. I only read about 10 hours last weekend but it was fun to do and if I do this one I'd like to challenge myself to try and read 12 hours!

I am gonna open a poll and see if anyone is interested in one over the other. It's okay if you aren't interested or it won't work for you. I am going to be doing this and figured I'd invite you all along.

If people want to participate I might be able to figure out a way to start a chat. Maybe on instagram or discord or something.

Also, if you all have other readathons or something you can suggest them here and maybe over the next few weeks we could try and do some?

Voted 24in72. But that is still quite a feat, eight hours for three days? But I'll do it!

I tried it this weekend and it was fun. I definitely didn't read 24 hours in the three days but I think I read more this past weekend than I have in a bit of time simply because I have been overly anxious about everything.

24in72 is actually the one I voted for. I am not sure if I could stay up all night. I used to be able to with no problem but not so sure any longer.

If you and I are the only ones who end up participating, we could do a chat via Facebook if you'd like. We can just check in with one another and go from there.

Yeah, that sounds good.

What time were you thinking of starting on Friday? Remember, I'm three hours ahead of you.

I'd love to do this but will have to give it a miss this time around as the only reading I'm doing is for my essays. But good luck to those who take part! And enjoy- it sounds fun

I am probably going to be doing something similar every weekend until all this calms down so if you're able to you could participate in the future.

I am bored and had fun with this last weekend so thought I'd share to see if others wanted to join. I know some people who do this and do reading sprints or what have you but I thought it would be fun to have people to chat with while reading.

I picked 24in72. Not sure if I'll be able to do it but I'll give it a go.

Re: 24 hour readathon - April 12th 2020, 06:37 AM

This didn't work out that well. I've read about 4 and a half hours. I finished a book so there's that.

I am going to come up with other ideas. There's one where you try as read as much as you can in a 24 hour period.

I might change it to read as much as I can in a 48 hour period or 72 hour period. Which is essentially what I've been doing.

I still think I might to do an all night readathon but idk. Mt minds all over the place right now.
