Summer Reading List -
June 6th 2009, 03:39 AM
Hey folks, what books are/will be on your summer reading list? Feel free to post recommendations, too.
Check out my blog: White-Out Blots How did Mandela get the will to surpass the everyday, When injustice had him caged and trapped in every way, How did Ghandi ever withstand the hunger strikes and all, Didn't do it to gain power or money if I recall, It's to give; I guess I'll pass it on - Take a Minute, K'naan |

I'm currently really liking Ellen Hopkins
I read Crank last summer, just finished Impulse and am currently onto Glass. I'm hopefully getting a job at the library this summer, so I'll get to read a lot more :] Else it'll just be whatever I pick up when I go to the library. I'm bad, judging books by their covers

The list of books I plan to read this summer is to long to post. However, I plan on finding My Sister's Keeper, and reading it. Also, that too long list, is well all the banned books xD So if it's banned, I'm going to read it.

I'm planning on reading more books in english than spanish.
I need to practice english. My teacher said The Problem of Pain- C.S. Lewis is a good book, I will probably end up reading it. Everyone is born right-handed. Only the greatest overcome it. |

Re: Summer Reading List -

Ugh. Summer reading. We only have to read two books, but are encouraged to read more.
We(upcoming 11th graders) must read one off this list. But can choose our second book from the 12th grade list or the general reading list.
I'm already reading my second choice from the general reading list. "The Thirty-Nine steps by John Buchan. Well I'm on the first few pages. And if I still have time I'll pick a third book to read. Probably something by Shakespeare or C.S. Lewis since those are the only two on the 12th grade reading list that interest me. We were made to be courageous. Everybody falls sometimes Gotta find the strength to rise From the ashes and make a new beginning Anyone can feel the ache You think it’s more than you can take But you're stronger, stronger than you know Don’t you give up now The sun will soon be shining You gotta face the clouds To find the silver lining |

Working my way through the Barnes & Noble classics list, but I'm taking a side-trip and hitting all the Fitzgerald works I haven't already read this summer. Hopefully I'll also have time for a little Shakespeare as well.

I'm re-reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. I'm looking to progress with The Prince by Nico Machiavelli. I've also got this book East of Eden by John Steinbeck, which I really should start. xD
