This book is Amazing. - August 10th 2009, 03:50 PM

http://www.ourbodiesourselves.org/publications/cbcl.asp

This book has helped me countless times in my life. It answered all the questions I didn't want to ask my mother, and gave me information I would have never otherwise found. I even use it to help answer Help Link requests and questions on the forums!

It has sections on pregnancy, sex, puberty, sexuality, abuse, depression, STDs, family, eating disorders, friends, school...every problem that plagues today's teenage population is covered in this book. It's like Teen Help, but in book form!

Not only is it filled with information, it also is packed with quotes and stories from real teenagers that make it more interesting and are fun to read. I strongly recommend that you check it out, because it's an incredible resource every teen should at least have access to. My mom gave it to me in place of The Talk, and while it would have been great to have her talk to me about sex, this was an outstanding alternative. Check it out!

P.S. I'm not sure if this should have gone in the Sports and Entertainment section, as it is a book, but it's also a great resource in general. Perhaps we should have a sticky somewhere with titles of good advice books for teenagers?

9 out of every 10 problems in relationships can be solved by talking. So why are we so damn quiet?

I KNOW THIS BOOK...
Its one of our resource books at school instead of a decent sex education. You're right though, it is a good book! Personally I'd say a good old fashioned discussion works marvels but like you said this is a good alternative.

Ooh it sure does sound like an interesting read. I wish I'd read something like that when I was younger, but I reckon it'd still be worth reading now. I might look into getting a copy because I think it could really benefit my younger brother. Cheers for mentioning it.

I even heard your mamma wanted some of this...
