Twilight. - October 14th 2009, 08:01 PM

I decided to join in this whole Twilight shizz going on lately and bought the Twilight and New Moon books last week. Am I the only one who doesn't like it? I find it badly written and from looking up some things online and from reading there are things about Edward that are creeping me out =)) I'm on page 200-something right now (of Twilight) and I just want to know does it get any better? because so far it's boring me /: Sorry to any Twilight fans by the way I thought I would like it but it doesn't seem like that's happening.

Nope, you're definitely not the only one. Although I might be a bit bias I personally hate it. I also hate the Edward fangirls and I just think it's gone over the top now.

It is terribly written.

Doesn't get any better, gets more boring, if anything. New Moon made me fall asleep. xD Eclipse is meh-ish. And Breaking Dawn is a pure disaster.

Read them just so you know what you're talking about when you argue with Twilight fans.

Urgh, Twilight. I agree that it is most certainly badly written, I dislike it too.

Yay, I'm not alone I don't find Rob Pattinson very attractive either. I wouldn't call him ugly but he needs a damn hair cut and shower I'll probably read it all and may read New Moon if I get bored.

I haven't even watched the move lol. I thought I'd give the book a read before watching it as I tend to prefer reading the books before watching the film (like with the Harry Potter series)

I'm not a fan of twilight. Before it became a huge deal I read a couple of the books but I really didn't like them. Now it's gone a little over the top with obsessive fans/the Edward thing and whatnot. Oh, and the movie was bad. Even most twilight fans agreed on that.

I haven't read the books or seen the film but I don't really understand the whole obsession with it if I'm honest. I didn't know that people could get so excited over vampires! I thought that was suppose to be for Halloween!

Hmmm...it's a good read if you are truely and utterly bored but the way it's written does get on my nerves sometimes. They way the author goes on describing Edward, trying to make him delicious to the readers, but I think it was just repitetive.

I must say though, that when it did come out, I used to like it but now with all the obssession over it, it's just become another sold-out.

I liked it at first because it was different to most of the teenage crap that you get. Then when everyone went crazy about it, I completely changed my mind. I agree that it isn't very well written.

What bugs me more than the quality of the story is the story itself. The Edward/Bella relationship is portrayed as so loving and wonderful, yet it's completely unhealthy.

Isn't it!

What scares me most is Twilight Moms..

Those women are terrifying. I went on the forums once, and there was a bunch of middle-aged women talking about spreading honey on Edward's body and licking it off. It was rather disturbing, actually. xD

^ WTf =)) ew. I agree the relationship isn't healthy, if my boyfriend watched me when I slept I'd be really freaked out Even though I haven't watched the film yet I doubt it will be the worst movie ever. Anyone watch Batman & Robin (1997)? now THAT is probably one of the worst films ever. Disaster movie and Epic movie are also laughable.

It's a horrible series, and I've heard the books only get worse as they go on. I've only read the first one though. I do plan to read the others because I've heard that some of it is so badly written that it's funny.

Re: Twilight. - October 15th 2009, 11:07 PM

When I saw the title of this thread, I was prepared for a bunch of raves about Twilight. I was so happily surprised!

Edward is a creepy abusive stalker, Jacob is a pedophile who assaults Bella, Bella herself has no life outside of Edward, and no personality at all.

The books themselves are poorly written, anti-feminist, sexist, classist and it scares me that girls find it romantic.

I am very pleased to see so many people on the site understand the unhealthiness of their relationship.

However I kinda like the movies because I think Kellan Lutz is kinda nice looking... :P

They are terribly written, but I read them knowing this fact, so I wasn't expecting much. I found them just cheesy and fun to read. But that's just me. Although I really didn't like the last book...AT ALL!

Hahaha, yeah, I think you've probably gotten the message, but no, you're not alone in not liking it or thinking it's not very well-written.

... though I can't say much because it kinda sounds like the kind of thing I would've written five years ago.

Personally, I enjoyed Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse were horrible, and Breaking Dawn was definatley my favorite. The movie was okay in itself, but compared to the books, it was prolly one of the most disappointing movies ever.

It's not written well. It's also not a terrible story, but very unoriginal. I read the first one and it was okay, but I have no desire to read any more of them.

I actually like the books and movie. I'm not obsessed like a lot of other people are, but I've found that the books were some of the very few books I've read that have managed to keep me interested. I usually can't finish a book past the 20th page without hating it, so I give these two thumbs up.

I liked the books. I mean, I am not obsessed with them or anything but I found them interesting. However, I did think the edward/bella relationship was unhealthy and it made me mad that so many people did not see that. I do not think the books are the best ever written, in fact they are far from it, but I enjoyed reading them.

Re: Twilight. - October 26th 2009, 10:16 PM

I thought these books would be a lot more interesting after all the raves I had heard. I found the first book much too slow, and I thought they ruined it by stating that Edward was a vampire on the back cover when Bella doesn't figure it out until about two thirds of the way through. I didn't really enjoy the books. Some parts of the story were interesting, but I found myself getting mad when I read them just because the relationship was so unhealthy and obsessive.

What I will give these books is that it got a lot of people reading in my school who would not normally have picked up a book that size. Sure, a lot of the book was boring and badly written, but it got people reading, and I'm going to see that as a positive.

The books are a nice easy, light read. Nothing fantastic, barely good, but as enjoyable as reading a good fanfiction. What's annoying is how ah-mazing the super fans think it is and how biased they are.

The movie, sucks, plain and simple. What shocks/annoys me is that the actors and movie won awards for it. Yeh they were just TCAs and watever but still, there were some really good stuff up against it.

It's sickeningly cute. In the eight-year-old way. Just like the Jonas brothers.
But the books aren't that great. I read the first one and I wasn't too impressed.
It was entertaining, but not a particularly challenging read.
And unfortunately, all the hype makes me want to read it again.

But what creeps me out the most are the giant Edward cutouts that people buy and keep in their bedrooms.
THOSE THINGS ARE SCARY.

Im into reomance books and stuff,But thing is is that i think the 1st is really interesting, But like 3 to 4 chapters all it talked about was edward and bella
in love and, doing this and that

and like threw 4 chapters all it seemed like she was going to school, talking to him,
flirting with him, ect. Over and over again! it became boring after a while, but now its gotten interesting again (:

i wud say Harry potter is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BETTTTTTTTTTERRRRRRRR!

Personally, I disliked all the books. An ex of mine got me to read them and I just found them to be poorly written stories. I was excited because I LOVE vampires, warewolves, and romance but I felt that the Twilight series used all three of those elements very poorly. Could have been a lot better. I won't hate on the series too much, but I just found them lacking...

I'm not going to lie. I love Twilight. I do agree on something though- some of the things Edward does creeps me out.

And I hated the "Climax" (If that's what you wanna call it) of the last book. Total disappointment.

But I really liked it none the less. <3 I would never reread the whole series again though, I just go back and read a few parts when I'm bored or feel like it.

I was going to give it a go... Probably still will at some point, but everyone seems to think its an over hyped film for teenage girls?

I do however enjoy True Blood, and for Uk'ers, Being Human! Sorry though, this is a Twilight thread

How can one love themselves, when they love absolutely nothing?
Do something that is interesting. If it is not interesting, find out why it is not interesting.

I think it's a nice story - something different. However, I think it was terribly written. There were points where I was reading where I was like like "WHO edited this?!" But yeah. I still thought parts and pieces of it were cute. I think, if actually written by another author, it might have had really awesome potential.
