Who is everyone's favorite author?
Mine is Jodi Picoult. My favorite book by her is Nineteen Minutes. Her stories are so powerful, but always have such wonderful twists! |

Kevin Brooks is probably my favourite. I've read most of his books, or at least I think I have unless there is some I've missed and I love 'em.

Ah, such a tough call. My "one" favorite would have to be JK Rowling, just because whenever she writes it's always brilliant, even silly things like website updates.
Behind her would have to be Holly Black/Cassandra Clare and so many others I can't even think of them. xD |

Can't believe it hasn't been said! J.R.R. Tolkien!
Tolkien was brilliant beyond words. Hands-down, the best author. I also really like Terry Goodkind and his books. He's awesome with character and story development. R.A. Salvatore is my third favorite. Seriously... Brilliant to create Drizzt Do'Urden. One of the best characters in fantasy ever. "Why isn't bull-riding (Beef NASCAR as I call it) the American sport to end all sports? It's an epic battle of the wills between a man and an angry cheeseburger; and if that doesn't typify our awesome civilization, I don't know what does." |

I have to say that I freakin' love J.R.R. Tolkein's writing as well. His writing is just amazing.
I also really like Sarah Dessen, Cornelia Funke and have read something by Jodi Picoult, but can't figure out what so can't really say how much I like it. A new author that I really am loving her first book is Jan Elizabeth Watson. The book is called Asta in the Wings and the writing is so unique and interesting. Also, just thought of an author I'm literally AMAZED no one has mentioned. Like more than I was that no one mentioned J.R.R Tolkein before Ian. The author I thought of is Mitch Albom. I seriously love his books, my favorite is probably The Five People You Meet In Heaven. I've read three, I think, of the four. This is how it ends We believe every lie & say we'll still be friends How long will it last Before we scratch all the scripts & rework the casts *Hourglass by the Hush Sound* |

Jim Butcher (loved The Dresden Files, didn't really get into The Codex Alera). After that maybe Terry Pratchett/Neil Gaiman (Good Omens was epic).
Anders: That's not evasive.
Isabela: Look, I didn't get where I am by showing my hand, you know? Anders: No, it's not your hand that I've heard you've been showing... |

So hard...!
I love P.C. and Kristen Cast who wrote the House of Night series, although I found some of the characters a bit annoying. I still read Jacqueline Wilson and Cathy Cassidy, but my favourite has to be...Cassandra Clare I also love my best friend's writing. I dunno if that counts but she's just amazing <3 Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year.

Alot of Jodi Picoult love in this thread I see...
Anyway, I would say Michael Crichton, Chuck Palahniuk, and George RR Martin. Crichton...I'm not sure, maybe it's because his books got me into reading. I'm never really dissapointed by a book by his because they're all very suspenseful and keep me on edge. Palahniuk not because of his stories (which I find mediocre), but because of his different, yet cool writing style, and very dark humor. Martin because of his series "A Song of Ice and Fire." It's the only story in which I had to put the book down for a good hour just to process what just happened. And I was very close to throwing the book at the wall at one point in the series...Any author that gets those responses from me gets props. |

Edgar Allen Poe! I especially love Cask of Amontillado.
Also, James Patterson(his stories usually aren't great, but he has a very captivating writing style) and Janet Evanovich. Heaven is high and earth wide. If you ride three feet higher above the ground than other men, you will know what that means. ~Rudolf C. Binding |
