natural forms - October 26th 2009, 03:15 PM

does anybody here know of an artist who drew/draws or painted/paints natural forms, ie plants, clouds, natural stuff =P? I have to research one for art homework, but i can't think of anybody =(

The first person who came to my mind was Andy Goldsworthy who is a sculptor and photographer (he often photographs his sculptures, especially if they're temporary), but his art is land art - he uses natural objects to create sculptures (some which are permanent, some which degrade). I don't know if he has actually produced any paintings specifically, but I'd imagine that looking at some as his sculptures may be helpful.
A more obvious artist to look at would be Georgia O'Keeffe who produces compositions of natural forms such as flowers, bones and shells if you're looking for someone who specifically produces paintings.

Yep, the above names mentioned are ones that I would recommend. Also - Dale Chihuly makes wonderful glass sculptures based on natural forms like the sun, plants, flowers etc..., he also does paintings as well but these are often quite abstract.
Henry Moore makes sculptures based on human form which is natural forms..but nothing in the way of clouds or trees but it's still considered natural.
