Talking In need of a good book - November 15th 2009, 09:31 AM

Hello Nina here!

I am in need of a good book, I'm finishing Fruits Basket (which is an awesome series) I finished Harry Potter and the Twilight series which kinda' bored me at the end because it was "Happily ever after"

I've read A series of unfortunate events, Treasure Island, Animal Farm, Roald Dahl, umm and quite a few other authours so I was just wondering if people could give me recommandations.

I'm into fiction eventful I was told "Howl's Moving Castle" was very good that series was given good ratings.

Basicly I'm into: Fiction, Romance, Mystery, Magic, Event books.

What would you recommend?
Thank you very much.
Nina.

The Lord of the Rings. Every one should be required to read it.

I have read Howl's moving castle and I remember thinking it was good at the time; I think I was only 13 then though so I am not sure if it will be as good to a 15 year old. Hmmm, I enjoyed reading a book called "ravens gate" by Anthony Horowitz; I think he is a good author. If you want to read about it then there is a review here.. it is better than it sounds in my opinion so you might enjoy it

I quite like the House of Night series by P.C & Kristan Cast. A book called Stolen by Lucy Chistopher is also pretty good

I definately agree with Jenn. Raven's Gate is an amazing book by an amazing author. There is a whole series of Raven's Gate which I think is like four or five books long. He also wrote another series called the Alex Rider series. That series is much longer but also very good. I couldn't put either book down so he is definately my favorite author. If you read both series you'll have plenty of books for a while!

I would reeeeally recommend the House of Night series, the Mortal Instruments series (City of Bones = best thing I've ever read, ever, ever!)
...and I'm quite childish too, I love the Sammy Keyes series...*blush*
Happy reading

I bought "Dark Visions" yesterday by L.J Smith, awesome book, bought it yesterday afternoon and didn't go to bed till I'd finished it (4am)
I also bought "Kissed by an angel" by Elizabeth Chandler, so far it's also a very good book ^^

The Mortal Instruments is an awesome book, full of surprises, awkward romance AND action. There's also a bit of mystery in it too! It's an awesome read, so I definitely recommend it!

I read Raven's Gate a few years back. Absolutely loved it! One of those books that I've never forgotten. I didn't love the sequels much, though, to be honest. My friend loved them, though.

Agreed! Inkheart is amazing. I remember reading these.. I couldn't put them down. I was literally in a total other world while reading them, there was no disturbing me! The Inkheart movie was fairly decent, too.

I'd also recommend these! The writing is fairly bad, haha. But the story is excellent and I fell in love with a lot of the characters. It's a massive series, too! I've been meaning to read the latest one.

The Mortal Instruments is pure genius. I'm literally in love with Jace. xD Really, really, really good books. I'd highly recommend these, too.

As for my own suggestions..

Maximum Ride by James Patterson
-These books are very simple.. but absolutely amazing! I love love LOVE them.

A Great And Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
-An absolutely beautiful book! It's a trilogy. The second and third books being Rebel Angels and The Sweet Far Thing.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
-Totally not something I would usually read.. but I absolutely LOVED it. I've been recommending it to people all week.

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult
-LOVE this book! Quite a lot. Actually, try anything by Picoult.. she really is very good.

I could go on all day.. but I'm sure you've gotten more than enough suggestions. Yay books. <3

If you like magic, fiction and even a little romance, then try some of L J Smith's books.
Vampire Diaries speaks for itself.
The Night World series is about shapeshifters and vampires (REAL ones, not Twilight ones) and witches.
Again with the real 'vampyres' the House of Night series is also good, but I can't remember who wrote that.

And more magic books, try the Coven Series by Cate Tiernan. The first two are in one book now I think called Book of Shadows and The Coven

Hope this helped

The woman of the otherworld series is pretty good. It is written by Kelley Armstrong. She also has a teen trilogy as well. The first two books in the trilogy are called the summoning and the awakening.

Everyday
is so wonderful
And suddenly it's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain, I feel so ashamed

I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring me down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Tryin' hard to fill the emptiness, the piece is gone
Left the puzzle undone, ain't that the way it is?

You are beautiful in every single way
Yes, words can't bring you down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

The Narnia series? There's about seven books and they're REALLY good, especially if read in order.
Also I have an addiction to the Louise Renninson series ... she wrote Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snooging which was made into a film last year. There's LOADS of books. Tres girly though.

I enjoyed this series that you might like. It's sort of a romance/adventure/humour about vampires, werewolves and other mystical creatures. Apparently it's called the Broken Heart series, by Michele Bardsley. The books are called: Wait till Your Vampire Gets Home, Don't Talk Back to Your Vampire, I'm the Vampire, that's Why and.... I forget the other title. Anyway, they're entertaining books as long as you don't mind that there's some... lovemaking that is very descriptive.

I completly agree with broken one and handgrenadeheart, mortal instruments series and dark visions series are MUST-READS. ESPECIALLY MORTAL INSTRUMENTS. I couldnt put it down, I literally had to skip a day of school because I didnt go to sleep the night before because I JUST COULDNT STOP READING IT. it was mind blowing, and is in the ranks of harry potter and twilight. Please do yourself a favor and read both series, you will love them I promise you.

This was the first thing that popped into my head when you said you needed a good series. It is child-like but not really. It is about kids who have wings but their issues and romance make it more mature. It is a really good mix and I love love love James Patterson.

"The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" - Stephen Donaldson?
"Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"?
"Magician"?
