50 Book Challenge -

Yeah, I feel kind of stupid by asking this.
 Anyway, I've seen a few things in TH blogs about something called the 50 Book Challenge...what is it? I assume it's something where your goal is to read 50 books by a certain date or something similar, but I just want to know if I'm right or not. |

You have to read 50 books in one year. You should do it xD

It is a great distraction, I am doing it to distract myself from a load of family issues and it is working great. I have read like 5 books in like 11 days. At this rate I could do a 100 book challenge

I would do this, but the books I enjoy are multi-hundred-page-long philosophy and science that I insist on fully understanding every last word of, so this would quickly turn into a hectic scramble for me, and I wouldn't enjoy it. I'll be glad if I finish my personal 18-book reading list before the end of the year. :P

I'm doing this, but modifying it a bit. Cheyenne-izing it, if you will.
I read voraciously, so I'm just going to write down every book I read and see how many there are at the end of the year. I did this once before for the summer and I was astounded at how many there were. I'm stoked to see how many there will be at the end of this year.
"Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it. I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it." |
