Twilight Sigh-ga -
April 16th 2011, 08:01 PM
Please tell me I'm not alone on here. Does anyone else agree that the Twilight Saga sucks big time?
Here are my main reasons, argue if you'd like cuz I can back them up: 1)Very inappropriate 2)Romeo and Juliet type romance that I can't stand 3)WAY too many grammatical and punctuational mistakes 4)All of the characters are 1 dimensional and have same characteristics 5)Reads like a bad fanfic 6)Many passages don't make sense either factually or grammatically because of how they are written Not to mention the basic plot, dully descriptive passages, and just the overall disturbed feeling I get from the Bella character. I don't need to shout, I just need to Scream.......

It's not very hard to find haters of Twilight on any website you go to, for any number of reasons.

I haven't read it so I'm not going to commit to disliking it until I have done.
But I do dislike the movies and the plot of them and I'm assuming the movie hasn't deviated too far away from the plot and the characters. ![]() |

I think the hype about Twilight is ridiculous, good and bad. I personally think that it doesn't deserve to be loved OR hated as much as it is. This will sound biased because I'm not a Twilight fan...but I just don't think they're well-written or engaging at all. They're just.....blah. :/ Like....they just don't deserve this much attention at all. :/

I tried to read the first book, I found it hard work >.> If it wasn't a first-person-narrative maybe I'd like it a bit more. Bella's a turd, she's annoying, selfish and a pain in the ass.

I really liked it, then I spent a huge amount of time and energy dissing it all the time. Then I decided hating it was a waste of my time so I guess I'm indifferent now.

I actually don't mind the books or the movies (except New Moon's book which really bored me to tears at points). I think it gets a lot of hate simply because it's cool to hate on it. And the fanbase can be quite irritating. I saw someone say Stephenie Meyer was the new Shakespeare. Not really...

I like the Twilight sries =) They aren't the best written books in the world and are a little lacking plot-wise; people who say it's the best series they've ever read need to encounter good literiture, but they make me giggle a lot ^^

They're alright, I used to be obsessed, it was the first book series I had read that wasn't aimed for a bit younger of an audience, so it was a decent transition.
Then my brother had me read The Hunger Games and Harry Potter, after that I was Twilight free. xD ![]() People help the people, And if you're homesick, give me your hand and I'll hold it. |

I enjoyed it before I realized that real guys are in fact better than Edward Cullen/Jacob Black. And that any situation in which I can relate to Bella Swan is an area of my life that needs work. I dislike Twilight now, but it's something I can look at and laugh about.
If you want to laugh about Twilight as well, I recommend the "Alex Reads Twilight" series on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2L253VLwH3w His commentaries are hilarious.

I love the twilight saga, though the first book was quite boring. But if you have only watched the films and based your opinion on that then you should read them for they are far better.

The books- Are a fun read, and that is all they are meant to be. She isn't a great writer and def. isn't a "classic" author, nor should she be. Its just a fun series of books to read and I enjoyed them because I took them as what they were. She wasn't a "writer" before she wrote the first twilight. She had a real job like the rest of us. She had a dream one night in bed and decided to write a story about it, that ended up being Twilight. The Saga has made her a lot of money, and for that I am happy for her. They are just meant to be Hobby reads, as she was just a hobby writer. You will never see anything of her's being taught in school, or read as a school asignment because she didn't write her books to be the next "Grapes of Wrath" or "The Great Gatsby" she just wrote them for fun, to be read for fun. If you take it in context they are good reads, not amazing, not life changing, just fun relaxing reads.
The movies....suck. The acting is severely lacking (which I believe to be in fault of the lazy horrible directors/producers, because I have seen each of those actors in other roles where they kicked ass!) I think the mass "hating" of twilight is just dumb. Most people that hate on it, have never read the books, or watched the movies. They are just teenagers who hate soemthing because it is popular. If you dislike something great, I dislike a lot of things. But Know you dislike it because you have sampled it, read it, or watched it. Not because its popular. (this wasn't directed towards you OP, just a general statement I have noticed about most people saying how stupid/dumb/etc twilight is) |

I hate when people diss Stephenie Meyer. Twilight was the first book she ever wrote, EVER! I didn't expect her to be perfect at it, considering she is new to this. I like the series. I disliked the second book the most. It was boring, slightly slow and downright annoying at times. However, I do enjoy the movies and I look forward to seeing the last one.
