Has anyone read Crank by Ellen Hopkins? I read it recently and I just bought Glass today. What are your thoughts on it? Have you read any of Ellen Hopkins's other work? Share your thoughts/opinions!

I haven't read it, but I've read Impulse and loved it, so this is something I'd definitely want to read.
Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh, and cruel. But that's why there's us - champions. Doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world is as it should be, to show it what it can be. |

I really like Ellen Hopkins! I've read Impulse and Identical by her, and I really liked them. I want to read Crank as well, but my school library doesn't have it.

Ellen Hopkins. <3 I think she might be my favorite author. That or one of my very top favorites. I read Crank for an assignment in my English class last semester and I absolutely loved it. I love her writing, her imagery. And also her format of her books. Where the words actually like form into shapes.
I've read Crank, Glass, and Impulse. I really want to read Identical and Fallout, but I don't have them. Those are some other things to add on my birthday wish list!
Risk something, take back what's yours. Say something that you know they might attack you for. Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before. Like it's stupid standing for, what I'm standing for. When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die. Your voice is your own, I can't protect it. You'll have to sing. A verse no one has ever, known. Don't be afraid. Cause no one ever sings, alone. Love all. |

I think the way she writes is absolutely amazing. Especially if you look close, you can find hidden sentences. Especially in Identical.
I've read Impulse (first I read of hers and I LOVE it), Identical (second one I read, again, loved it.), and I'm currently reading Crank which I really like so far. I can't wait for the Impulse sequel to come out! And I really want to read all her other books as well. "'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.' I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish. 'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.' 'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said. 'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'" |

I've read Crank, Burned, Impulse, Glass, and Tricks. I need to get the rest of them! I think these are some of my favourite books to read. They may be easy reads, but I can still imagine what is happening and capture the emotions. Ellen Hopkins does a wonderful job. After reading Impulse, I was hooked on her books!

Actually, I don't think they're easy reads at all. Sometimes it can be hard to get into the poetic flow of Ellen's writing.
I finished Crank, and I have to say it didn't live up to the hype for me. I was a little disappointed, I didn't think it was quite as great as everyone said and I definitely think some of her other books were better. I'll still be reading Glass and the others though.
