What book is this? - March 26th 2009, 12:29 AM

Okay, this has been bothering me for awhile so I'm going to ask you guys. Awhile ago my sister read this book for an English class. She was getting really bored but had to finish it, so she just yelled "STORYTIME" and read the ending to me. I'm wondering what book it is. I remember that it was by an author who was well known for writing books that are dark. All I remember is that it's about this guy who murders his friend while suffering heat stroke. He then goes to trial and his lawyer thinks he'll only get three years, then he gets the death penalty. He gets all emo and sad and hates himself. Anyone know? Also, this may or may not be a different book, but if anyone also knows it, there's something about a horse or knight or something in the title, and it involves some guy who is in the army and he randomly gets sexually assualted. I can't remember if that's the same book or not.

I'm not sure if I'd be interested in reading the book(s?) or not but I just want to know what books they were. Thanks! Sorry for the peculiar description.

Can you ask your sister if she remembers what it was called?

The last one you talked about could be Coal Black Horse by Robert Olmstead. I just looked up a few summaries. It's about the Civil war. Sounds different than the first book you were talking about. Hope that helps.

The great artists of our time are the ones who created something timeless. But it was never them defining it that way.
Everyone has a story. What's yours?

Hm that sounds familiar, thanks. I'll see if it was. Does anyone know about the first one?
