Avatar closure.

It is with regret that I am writing to announce the closure of Avatar Magazine. Having had the magazine for over four years we have enjoyed great success in being able to bring you fresh content each month. However, in the past year we have struggled to secure the volunteers necessary to make the monthly release we had previously.

In an attempt to provide our users with more regular publications the Avatar Editors will be reorganised into the Articles Team. By removing the graphical component, which has been the source of our ongoing delays, we will instead be able to put our focus on driving great pieces for the Articles section of TeenHelp.

Users will have the opportunity to contribute to this by joining the Articles Team. More information will follow shortly, but initial enquiries about writing for TeenHelp can be submitted here.

I would like to take the time to thank all of the people whose hard work has made Avatar possible over the last four years.

I hope this change means more constructive articles will be added to the already existing collection.

That's sad. I was never a regular reader myself, but when I did pick up an avatar, I always found it quite interesting, well done, and informative. I hope that there can now be regular articles posted in the articles area of the site. Also, any hope at all for Avatar to relaunch at a later date down the line?

maybe some kind of mini version of it could be made? like a newsletter still has graphics and sections but not like..crazy amounts of work.

I'm sad to see Avatar close. It was really great, but I am glad to see that we are going to have an Articles Team. I hope that that works out.

There is an e-mail newsletter, but you have to sign up for it.

I'm kind of sad to see this go.

I'm sad to hear that Avatar will be closing, but I'm glad there will still be articles written for TH. I hope they will be of the same success that Avatar was.

You don't have to sign up for the newsletter. On the 15th of every month, we post newsletter as a blog as well. Also, at the top ofof the page, there is a link that says newsletter. But you can sign up for it if you wish.

I've actually thought of bringing up the idea of maybe adding a graphic or two into newsletter. Haven't got that farr yet

Sad to see Avatar go though.

This is really sad, but again, I saw it coming. I only got to read a few because it struggled to be released during the time I've been here, but those that I read I really did enjoy.

I agree. It's sad, but it doesn't really surprise me. I look forward to the new articles though, I enjoy reading them.

Why not merge both Avatar and Articles into a blog?

I'm pretty sure the servers can handle the installation of another CMS from Wordpress.org, no? Even if somehow that is not allowed, we could still strike a deal with Wordpress.com (since this site is a registered non-profit organization).

You would get more out of search engines, more visitors, and more income from ads. Also, because this would be a blog, users can contribute "guess posts" occasionally. Aesthetically, it would look much more attractive--even with just a simple, elegant theme--than our current Articles layout right now.

Were all sad to see them go! I remeber my time as a newsletter editor, it was stressful but I can't imagine how stressful it must be with avatar. To all the editors I just wanted to say a job well done! Avatar may no longer be here but the sprit and legacy that you guys have fought for will always be here!
