Hello new here and don't really know how to really ask this but I've been suffering from raceism from people of my OWN nationality..... I'm Mexican but I don't look it at all, amd where I live there are alot of hispanics and latinos with darker skin than mine... They call me all kinds of nameslike craker bolio gringo and racial stuff like that, I speak Spanish its actually my native tongue and when I try to speak in Spanish to most of them they always say that I'm some white boy trying to learn it... I was birn in Mexico and proud of it its just just because of my appearance they assume that I'm automatically stuck or something.... Sometimes I kinda wish.I was white from like Europe or something maybe then I'd feel more accepted..

Hi there, welcome to TeenHelp.

If these people cant accept you as you are and call you names etc, then they are not worth getting to know.

There is people out there who will accept you for who you are, you just need to find them. Do you do sport? Do you have hobbies? Join clubs and groups, get to know other people. Not everybody is like this.

Be your own person, dont feel like you have to change for anyone.

Everybody sufferes from racism in some shape or form. The best thing to do is to not let it bother you. Getting upset and/or fighting back is not going to change anything. When you let them know that you dont care what they're saying they will see that their comments are not affecting you and they will stop. Even if they don't, if you don't let their comments bother you, they cant ruin your day. Except yourself for who you are and dont you dare change for anyone. If the mexicans don't like you, hang out with a race that does.

I have to agree with solodolo. I know that it's hard to take racism from your own race (I guess), I've heard mean comments, both because of who my dad is and who my mom is (I'm mixed). May I say that, their comments are stupid and your actually pretty cute Don't let some assholes ruin your day about your looks, because really, they're probably just insecure.

Those Mexicans youre dealing with are just plain ignorant. Not all mexicans are tan with dark eyes and hair or really short , people from the northern part of Mexico like Chihuhua have a lot of people that are really light with colored eyes. .My grandpa , aunt looked American(they are mexican)with blue eyes, blond hair and fair complexion.so...
ill just ignore them.What part of mexico are you from?

I'm going to move your thread to the "Peer Pressure and Bullying" forum, as this doesn't seem to be related to "Relationships and Dating."

I just wanted to echo what everyone else has been saying. I can imagine how painful it must feel to not be accepted by "your people," but honestly, that doesn't mean you're going to be rejected by EVERYONE. A lot of people would appreciate you, not for how you look, but for who you are. I'm sorry you haven't found many of those people yet, but keep looking! You can and will find acceptance eventually. In the meantime, LOVE who you are and where you come from! Don't let these jerks put you down. You're amazing just as you are - those guys don't know what they're missing out on! =)

Im Mexican to and i look white.. and people always make fun of me, and call me White Girl.. But Im not white! Sometimes They Talk About Me too, in spanish but i understand them and they still talk, they say some mean things too.. but i dont let there words get to me.. Im stronger then them they can say what they like but i know its not true. So dont let words hurt you and dont let them effect you, your strong and you know you are, But if you need anyone to talk to, Ill Be here

hey thanks, and I'm glad that there is someone here who can relate... all the brown skinned mexicans say that I shouldn't even claim Mexico! WTF???? they always think that I'm stuck up, presumido just because I look white!!! even the ones that clain BROWN PRIDE and LA RAZA always say a ''true''mexican should be brown like the motherland.. sometimes I just wanna show them my birth certificate :/

Welcome to TeenHelp! You're from Chihuahua? That's awesome, my grandfather was from there as well. He was Mexican, and because of that, on all of my papers in school and such where all the labels are present, I am actually counted as "Hispanic" in school, although I have very light skin, red hair, and freckles. People can be very ignorant. I got a lot of crap from my former friend, who would insult the Spanish language and Mexican culture forgetting that half of my family was Hispanic. It can be really stupid. Just remember who you are, and find people who accept you, and screw the people who do not.

My mother is Mexican, but she looks white. She has brown hair, fairish-skin slightly browned from sun exposure, and hazel eyes. My grandfather was from Sonora (he looks white, but all of his brothers look like typical Mexicans), and my grandmother was from Nayarit. My mother has some European ancestry because her great- grandma was born in Spain. Since you're Mexican, but look white, you must have some kind of European ancestry in your heritage. People can be very ignorant; be proud of who you are.

The conquistadors were from Spain/Portugal, so there are a lot of white genes present in Mexico (not to mention later immigrants from places like Spain). That may or may not be you, but how that fact escapes so many people amazes me.
