Drinking - October 3rd 2009, 08:36 PM

Hello there,

I am a first year university student and I do not drink. There is not better way to put it other than lack of interest? I never got into drinking, and am not against it. However, most people here drink. Weekend nights everyone is gone and I am stuck in the dorms alone. I feel discomfort around people who are drinking, I hate crowded places, and being out of control. So in other words, I don't want to be around alcohol. What do ya do?

I mean like, what can you do? It seems the only thing that entertains university students on a friday/saturday night is getting so drunk you pass out. I would love to meet people who do not drink but everyone is always gone downtown. WWJD? heh lol

you could always go along one time and see.. i know you say you don't like crowded places or being around loads of drunk people. but perhaps find a group of friends who are going to a bit more of a relaxed place that evening rather than some nightclub to just get hammered.

i'm sure you're not the only person there who's in your situation.. get chatting to people in your classes and find out who's in the same boat as you?. from what i hear the first few weeks are always a bit crazy and people go pretty wild with the drinking but i think it'll probably calm down a bit as you settle in more. maybe arrange to go out for dinner or something with a group of friends if you're really uncomfortable going along with them and being the lone sober one!. :]

..and our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears..
