Because I wear a scarf... - January 30th 2010, 12:20 AM

Because of that. most people in my school tend to say the most rudest things to me.
even my best friend, who has been my best friend since grade six had begun to tease me for it.

I mean, for the beginning of the year, I had taken it off because of it. but since my dad found out, well, lets just say I've been wearing it since then full time at school. ):

I REALLY don't know how to deal with it.
I mean, I'm the only one who wears it at school. and I just can't deal with all the staring, food tossing, threats and racial comments I receive.

Well, if you take it off you will get more problems, i'd assume.
I used to wear a scarf, then i stopped cause i live in australia. (its hot)

OK, you have to wear that scarf with pride, if someone ask why you wear it (or all the other things those bullies do) say: i just like scarfs thats it. Look them in the eyes when you say it. and smile, against whatever they say. Its hard to do but try anyway. It will really help. Keep you head high, you back straight and a smile on your face.

Simple solution: Don't wear a scarf.

Seriously, the whole point of dressing like you don't care what people think is that you actually have to not care. If you want the threats etc to stop then don't wear the scarf, it's the simple solution. However, I feel there may be more to this than just wearing a scarf, nobody picks on someone simply because of a scarf.

However, tell an authority figure about it such as a teacher, parent or peer mentor (If you have them). They can help you deal with these issues and fix them.

Well i think it's ridic that people are picking on you because you want to wear a scarf, or have to wear a scarf?

Is it a religious scarf?

I think it's a religious scarf as of the racist comments.

Can't you talk to a teacher or something? It's not fair that people pick on you all because you wear a scarf.

If you have to wear this scarf because of religous reasons, the staff, should educate the other children, as to why you have to wear it.

We had children in our class that couldnt attend our assembles, we all wonderd why, and a few kids picked on them, but the teachers taught us about different religons and why those children couldnt attend our bible things, and had to go to other meetings, they even said if we wanted to a few of us could go along, Muslim meetings are so different to christains, but my it was really good.

Unless it's a religious scarf, as mentioned, the best thing you can do is take it off! I'm usuall all for standing up and being yourself, but sometimes, if it makes your life easier, especially during school, where I know your self esteem can take a real drop, taking it off and removing the reason people have a go at you might be a good plan!

If it is for religious purposes, that's a real different ball game. Racism is quite serious; I'd really think about talk to a teacher, someone you trust, or even the police!

Nobody should have to deal with bullying, and some people are just plain nasty. Take matters into your own hands- don't stand for it!

If it is a religious scarf and you want to keep wearing it, then go forth. If matters become too hard to handle then perhaps consider leaving that school. But other than that, live your life and pay no attention to those who are just bothering you.
