My mom gives me extreme anxiety...

My mom wants to embarrass me for my next birthday and she wants to do it in front of my entire school, like when school gets out... I walk with most of my friends (I don't have a lot of friends) and I don't want them to make fun of me and bully me because of my mom. I've had a couple panic attacks about this, then on top of that, I have a project worth almost half of my grade not finished and that's definitely weighing on me.. I'm seriously stressed...

Hey there and welcome :) I'm sorry you're s anxious about this. The only thing you can really do about a huge project is break it down into smaller pieces and chip away at it. If you don't want your mom to come to school, you could ask her not to. I don't think she means to embarrass you, she probably wants your birthday to be special and she doesn't realize that you don't want her to do it that way. If your friends make fun of you because of your mom, then they aren't real friends.

Asking your mom not to come to your school as mentioned above is a good idea if you don’t want her there. You could just explain that you appreciate what she wants to do but would rather celebrate with her in the privacy of your own home. If she still decides to come to your school, hopefully your friends won’t make fun of you and if they do as said above they’re not true friends.

Breaking your project up into smaller pieces is a nice technique. You could also ask for help from your mom or your friends to get their input on your work thus far. What if you broke your project up and then did something fun for yourself in between as a break? You could take a walk or do something around the house you’ve been wanting to do, like start a new book or watch a movie. You can do it! You’ll probably feel so much better when the project’s over and done with.
