Shortness of Breath.... - July 13th 2013, 05:42 AM

Even when I take my medication, I still feel short of breathe some of the day. I notice this usually a few hours after I take my medication or if I drink anything caffeinated....does caffeine make anxiety worse?

The doctor said that my heart sounded "good" when I had an appointment, but how much can he honestly know just by listening to my heart.

I know that anxiety causes me to worry about the "what if's" of my health...but I'm seriously scared. I was laying down trying to sleep, and all of the sudden I felt like I was suffocating and couldn't breathe...this happens daily.

I was doing better, but it's always like I take one step forward and two steps back. I'm getting back to the place where I'm scared to do a lot of things. Even sleep. It's not healthy.

I'm also "anxious" about my relationships. Can anxiety make you question if people actually care about you or not? Because that is what I feel like I'm going through at the moment...

I really just don't understand what is going on

all i want is a place to call my own and
mend the hearts of everyone who feels alone,
you know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

My anxiety has calmed down a lot over the years, but I still have shortness of breathing a lot! I would definitely recommend quitting caffeine, it's not helpful for anxiety at all. I'm sure there's many articles on it, if you want to read about it.

I'm not sure what to do about all the fear, but have you ever heard of box breathing? You should definitely check that out on YouTube or something. It has helped me a lot when I was trying to control my panic attacks. It's kind of difficult for me to articulate without motioning, it's very visual. So I suggest looking for a video. (:

You should definitely let your doctor know that you've noticed shortness of breath after taking your medication! I think that's something they should know, and maybe they can help stop it or prescribe you to something else they think will suit you better? I hope I've said something that helped... I'm sure someone else will help, if not. It will get better, try not to psyche yourself out. Deep breaths!
