The struggle - December 10th 2014, 04:14 PM

For 5 years now I have been aware that I suffer from anxiety, among other things. I am on medication and it has helped a lot but now I find myself being more and more anxious. I am too afraid to go places on my own, make calls, and basically anything with people involved.
I have become a hermit pretty much. Its sad but I don't feel confident or strong enough to change it right now.
Has anyone felt this way? What did you do?

Hi Sarah,

I believe that this is common of people who have anxiety. The thing about anxiety is it can be managed but life changes and sometimes with life changes, management has to change if that makes sense.
It is great that your medication is helping. Maybe you could need a dosage increase or it could be possible you may need a new medication. Sometimes medications only help for so long before another one needs to be tried.
Have you been experiencing more stress than normal? Has anything significant happened recently? If so, this could have triggered your anxiety.
The best thing you can do is to schedule an appointment with your psychiatrist and/or therapist/counselor so you can discuss these things and your need for medication changes or in therapy can be assessed.
I hope this helps and that your anxiety decreases to a more manageable level soon.
Take care.
