I'm 19 years old and the thought of turning 20 kind of scares me. - January 11th 2018, 06:34 PM

I'm currently 19 years old and honestly, the thought of being 20 is kind of making me feel anxious. I mean then, I won't be a teenager anymore and as a result, I feel like my youth is kind of over and I won't be able to have certain privileges of being associated with youth. I'm not opposed to responsibilities or anything like that, it's just the feeling of not being considered a teen or young. I feel like my youth is ending honestly compared to teens. Like, I don't really identify with people who are like 22 and older or something despite having the same age bracket. How can I deal with this?

You may be leaving the 'teen' years behind but it doesn't mean that you suddenly have to let go of your youth or privileges that come with it. At any age, it's unlikely that you would feel you could relate to those a few years older than you, partly because we develop and change quite a lot from childhood, adolescence and young adulthood.

You're still quite young, and even if others don't see you in this way, it doesn't mean that you can't continue being yourself as you are now and doing what you enjoy doing.
