the ocean-ive been only once, but never in it, just thinking about the water and the image of the horizone on the ocean freaks me out. lol, and when i was a little kid, i was afriad to put my head beneath the surfaceof my bath water because i thought God would punish me and when i took my head out of the water i'd be in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by man eating sharks, nontheless.

I have a few. Walking downstairs/upstairs in front of someone. I get really tense and grip onto the handrail. I'm afraid I'll be pushed, as I have been in the past.

Being in a small room with other people and having the door closed.

Oh, and I'm afraid of driving through the construction area on the interstate in my town. That came from nearly getting in an accident when some moron cut me off.

Sorry, I chuckled a little at the zombies one.

I don't like being in boats. I don't mind flying over the ocean, swimming in a pool or ocean (even out at sea), but I just don't like being in a boat really far away from land. Feels so vulnerable.

is so wonderful
And suddenly it's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure

Yes, words can't bring me down, oh no
So don't you bring me down today

To all your friends you're delirious
So consumed in all your doom
Tryin' hard to fill the emptiness, the piece is gone
Left the puzzle undone, ain't that the way it is?

You are beautiful in every single way

Blood/injection/injury phobia. I have often rejected or significantly delayed health care when I've thought there might be a possibility of an injection or blood test.

Yup, injections. I think I kind of convinced myself into that phobia at twelve though, so it's probably possible to get myself out of it again. Hopefully. Urgh.

I'm a little claustrophic as well.

I've had a panic attack more than once in large groups of people.

I'm also very afraid of mirrors. I don't know why. I just get terrified unless it's just for a second during my morning routine.

I don't have a phobia of them, but mirrors do scare me at night. I always envision those cheesy scenes in horror movies where the person looks in the mirror and nothing's there, then they look back and there's a monster or whatever standing there...creeps me out. I hate walking by mirrors at night.

Oooh, my other one is telephobia.

I'm horrified just at the thought of picking up the phone for a number that isn't my best mate or my mom. I really can't, I start sweating and i've even had panic attacks if the phones been ringing when i'm alone.

Phobophobia.
Meaning I'm afraid of being afraid.
It's probably a good thing that I'm not afraid of anything else. :/

Re: What is your phobia? - August 28th 2009, 03:07 AM

I have 2 phobias.
1)The fear of stairs, any kind of stairs the ones I am most afraid of are the ones with holes like if you step up you can stick your foot through them (usually used in a basement, and I mean like there's no back to them its just stairs connected to 2 walls) and the thing that sucks is my school has those stairs in the front area.
2)I am deathly afraid of going into basements at night/general. If I have to go in the basement (my basement has the stairs I hate) to do laundry I do it quickly then run up the stairs and slam the door shut. I also am afraid of things in the dark I used to have to sleep with my closet shut, and I was afraid to go pee incase there was something like a evil gremlin or the boogyman under my bed. (Im 18 and am still like that)

I don't know why I got those phobis, all I remember is my bestfriend from when I was 6 (our moms were best friends) had those stairs in the basement and I used to sit on them with my legs hanging over the edge(out the back) and one day I just got really scared of them and didn't like them anymore.

I am deathly afraid of flies. If I hear one I nearly get a panic attack. I have no clue why though...

Also deathly afraid of needles. Horrible experience when I was younger.

I don't like fire very close to me either. I got burned when I was nine on my face and I haven't been able to go very close to it ever since. My parents always get so upset at me over it, they say I'm being 'unreasonable' :/

Many other things too....

Dying. I looked it up before and it's called Thanatophobia, I'm almost 99% positive I have it. I kind of blame the fact that I'm an athiest and don't believe in an afterlife, so I always think to myself what does happen when we die? and the only thing that makes sense to me is... nothing /: complete and utter nothingness. That thought just scares me so much the fact that I won't be here and won't be able to think.

It's kind of silly that nothing (literally) scares me but whenever I think about death I go crazy so I try my heardest not to think about it.

I'm also scared of moths/butterflies, spiders, public speaking, bees/wasps, being abandoned/left somewhere, and clowns.

Edit:// I just thought of another one. I was scared of Santa Claus when I was a child for some reason.

I'm terrified of dogs and silence. When I was younger me, my brother and Dad were chased by an Alsation who tuck a huge chunk out of my Dads leg, and very nearly bit me as well. *Shudders* Evil I don't know where my fear of silence came from, but I feel so on edge and panic uncontrollably when it is quiet.

Hmmm I suppose I have 2. I don't like talking too much, but I do all the time. My other, probably closer to a phobia is techno music. I can't listen to it at night, all the pounding music makes me feel like my heart is going to explode.

Silence. I hate it. It drives me insane. The nothingness... I think it's gotten to the point where it's an illness... I can't have silence. If there's silence I start getting worried, irritable, and I have to have some noise on... even if it's something little, there has to be some noise...

I thought about you for the rest of the day.
Catching my head turning to find you again.
I hated myself for it.

Fear of foam...yes I know I'm a strange person.
Fear of being home-alone.
Fear of being alone.
Fear of silence.
Fear of death.

I have many..
~ Broken Glass (agh! the shattering and sharp little pieces spread everywhere, not to mention if you swallow it will shred everything inside you and your vessels and veins having being ripped apart from the inside out will cause a horrific agonizing death)
~ Parasites (so nasty! the thought of something being insde of me is just lkasfjaskjdf)
~ Being Possessed (if you ever saw the movie The Exorcism of Emily Rose you know what i mean..)

i used to be horrified of mirrors, but now i actually have one in my room. i just cant look at it at night. i also cant be left alone in a room with a crash-test dummy..[or with ppl] and wheelchairs...vacuum cleaners... i think its the way the handles r shaped. i hate it. and i really dont like being alone. even for alone time. i have to have alone time with someone near by. i hate feeling like im sufficating. even when im not in a cramped area, i feel like im gonna die, really uncomfortable.

Im terrified of Sharks. If I even see a picture of one of them, or on tv I leave screaming from the room. It's weird. As well as the end of the world, I can't watch movie's about it or listen to people talking about it unless they're joking. I can joke about it, just no serious conversations. In fact I constantly joke about 2012 :P

I've got several.
- Bugs
- Mildly phobic of public speaking.
- Pitch black darkness
- Loud noises, but only if it's a lot of them in a short period of time.
