Trypanophobia -
August 14th 2010, 05:02 PM
Recently my nightmares seem to be focusing alot on needles.
I've been Trypanophobic (scared of hypodermic needles) for a while but as I get older it seems to be getting worse. My dreams normally involve someone trying to inject me and me asking them to stop, but they persist they need to inject me. It also involves me screaming and getting really scared. Also I try and run away from the person with the needle. In actual life I admit, I get myself worked up over recieving an injection, but I never refuse to have one. I'll get really scared and sometimes it will verge on me having a panic attack. When I got my HPV vaccines, I had to have a nurse hold my hand each time. I also started crying during one of the injections. I cannot bear to watch someone else recieve an injection either, it makes me flinch and feel like someone is injecting me. It also makes mefeel incredibly sick ![]() It's starting to get beyond a joke... How can I curb my fear of hypodermic needles? ![]() el·e·gance (adj): A refined quality of gracefulness. |

Everyone has their fears and phobias. Some are more severe than others. Have you tried talking to a counselor about this sudden fear? It could be stemming from a past incident or dream that you had. I don't know much about phobias and such, but if you're having nightmares about it you need to see if you can get some help. Try nightmare therapies, such as rewriting the dream to make it have a better outcome. This could also help you.
PM me if you need anything. x “A man said to the universe “Sir! I exist!” “However,” replied the universe “The fact has not created in me a sense of obligation.” |

Thankyou so much..
My therapist knows I have nightmares, but I haven't said what they're about ![]() I will try and talk to her about it when I see her next. Writing it down sometimes works, but my dreams change so quickly, it's hard to keep track =] ![]() el·e·gance (adj): A refined quality of gracefulness. |
