So I'm not 100% sure this goes here but it seems to fit.
I have big problems with eating when other people are there. If I'm with my family then it's not as bad because I'm kind of used to that, I guess. But with friends or strangers or in places where there are people, it scares me. I'm so convinced people are watching me and judging me based on this and it's really quite scary. I refuse to do anything involving food in the kitchen unless the blinds are closed because somehow I think the neighbours can see through trees and a wall and are sitting there staring into our kitchen and judging me. (I know it's impossible, it just won't go away) I've started college and already I've been asked more than once 'Don't you ever eat?!' Is there any way to kind of distract myself from it or stop it? Preferably within the next three weeks? ![]() I tried speaking to a psych nurse who says there's nothing wrong with me. Distraction/coping ideas would be nice.

I have a friend who's the opposite of that, and needs someone to be there whilst she eats D=
You could try and start off by just eating with a few friends in a quiet place? Like on a field or something? 'And in the garden, lust began The animal instinct, the wanton man She fed him with a hunger, an appetite And fillin' with emotion he took a bite' Def Leppard - Women |

I know the feeling, I hate eating in front of people! But, usually, I prefer a noisy place, so if you make any little faux-pas, like a smacking sound, or something of the sort, it's not really noticeable.

I can't stand eating in front of others eithers. I'm very sensitive so I hate the sound that people make when they eat like if they chew an apple or something. My dad wishes I could get over it because I cringe whenever I hear chewing noises but I can't.
And eating in a crowded place doesn't help much either given the fact that I can't stand crowds so eating in the caf. is difficult. |

Hey there
I definetly know where you are coming from I have been there it took me a few weeks to resolve it but it can be resolved and it does not make you weriod nor nothing wrong with it or you as the nurse said! It's a plain an simple fear that is common in most people young or old is all an there is hope Hun that you will find something that helps what helped me was when I felt that fear an anxiety, I would look around and make up funny things people are thinking based on there body language and facial expressions , that helped me to relax an feel happy and it showed me that there are many things people think or judge about but in reality all that really matters is how you present yourself an feel about yourself!!! So in other words I see this as a self confidence an self esteem issue in terms of if you felt ok with yourself you won't be so senstive to what others thought of you or if they are judging you !!! This is from myown personal expercince an a life lesson that I have learned Hope this helps if you want more help on this feel free to contact me |
