Smile Dealing with Anxiety (all types of anxiety welcome for discussion) - September 30th 2010, 06:46 PM

Hey

This is my first time posting a thread on this site. I just wanted to ask you all a question.

How do you guys deal with anxiety? What makes you push the bad thoughts out of your head?

I write, draw, read, and listen to music. I just wanted to see what else you guys do to relax from all the tension.

Maybe I could get some new ideas for relaxing when my problem starts to really bother me. Any suggestions?

Hey there

I usually listen to calming music.
Also, taking a break from what you're doing is good.

A trick I learned in counseling is when you're feeling anxious, tense all the differents parts of your body (one at a time. So hands (clench fists), then something else) then hold for ten seconds, then release and breathe.

Hmm . . . That's an interesting way to release stress... I'll give that try. Thanks! ^_^

Good luck

I try to find someone to engage in a conversation with (in person) because for me, when I have anxiety, it's all just my thoughts racing and my head just never shuts up, so if I'm talking with someone else, I don't feel alone, so I begin to feel more "normal", if you know what I mean.
