It's mostly when I am with my boyfriend, I don't know why I am nervous around him but I am. I have a more detailed story about this but since I'm new, you need to go to my profile to find it. It's called anxiety around boyfriend.
But I tend to over-react to just about everything! I am taking my driving test on Wednesday and I'm so nervous for it (my parents are expecting me to pass the first time) But what can I do to stop over-reacting and calm down my nerves? Hey there,
Welcome to TeenHelp! My name is Alessa, nice to have you here. ![]() I have suffered through lots of anxiety. Different coping strategies work for different people. You can try deep breathing. Count slowly in your head 3 deep breaths. It makes your heart rate slow down which really help. Also, reassure yourself, that you are okay. You've made it through this before. Anxiety comes from irrational thinking, counsious of it or not. So, it takes a lot of practice before it starts to work but repeat it to yourself over and over again. I'm okay. It's just anxiety. Breath. About your driving test, EVERYBODY gets nervous for it. Just remember deep breaths. You aren't the only one. The testers are definately used to nervous people. No matter what your parents expect, take it at your own pace. Don't work to other people's expectations, only your own. Also, I know it might be embaressing, but talk to your boyfriend about your anxiety. It took me forever to tell me friends but it's so much easier now. It takes the pressure off of hiding it and then they are always willing to help. They don't judge me at all and when my mind starts with the irrational thoughts, it's another person helping rationalize them. Hang in there and good luck on your driving test!
