What's your favorite calming technique? -
December 21st 2010, 12:51 AM
Sooo in a couple days I'm going to be in a one act at my community theater and I'm scared my anxiety will get the better of me. I'm on medication and it helps a lot, but I still can get super stressed, and I need to be confident for this one act. Usually when I get stressed, I read or listen to music or something. But I can't really do that, especially because it's a special one act festival where we stay up for 24 hours before the one act to work on it and immediately after 24 hours we perform it. We get sleeping breaks of course, but I'll still be really sleep deprived, which I don't think will help with my anxiety. So far the only thing I know that will help is to breath really slow and deep, but that only helps a little. I know I'll be okay, but it wouldn't hurt to try something else, so I'm not super nervous during the performance. Thanks!

Listening to my headphones helps, but like you said that's kind hard to do in the situation. And most of the time, it helps me to go off somewhere by myself and take 5 deep breaths.
Do you have some kind of good luck charm that you could take that may help you feel calm? Good luck Luna - you'll be great! I isolate myself for a few minutes. Put in my headphones with my favorite song and just do four square breathing with my eyes closed. It helps when you are in class as well because it's really easy and doesn't seem like your freaking out from anxiety
