Darn Anxiety - February 1st 2011, 02:38 PM

I have social anxiety disorder, been diagnosed when I was 7.
Some times it gets triggered by an event or sometimes just comes for no known reason.

And the darn thing is back, maybe stress from the exams or other stuff, idk. It is such a bitch. It sucks all my energy even opening the door to go outside is hard. I try to stay off the meds as much as possible so I force myself out.

I try to control it as much as possible and i usually can, but right now its a struggle.

This is probably the real reason why no one wants me, I mean who wants to be with a mental freak show?

I so hate these feelings. Just so freaking frustrated at my self for letting it take me over.

Take a step back. Breath. Look how well you've done with it so far. Dealing with something as hard as anxiety for seven years is a huge accomplishment. Anxiety hasn't taken over you. You aren't stuck in your house, you are pushing through it. Pushing through it is the right thing. Tons of people have anxiety and that doesn't change who they are as a person either. That includes you too. A lot more people then you think suffer from anxiety. I never would've guessed until I started talking to others around me. You've gotten through periods of high anxiety before, you can do it again. Use coping strategies such as writing or drawing or something to reduce it when it gets really bad. I'm like you, I don't like to take medicine whatsoever. I feel like it seems to define who I am. But once in a while, you need that one Ativan to slow down your heart beat. It's not a bad thing. To you see a phycologist or someone? Maybe they can help you find the source of the anxiety. Once you find the source, then you can resolve the issue. For example if it's about exams, make a plan of what you are going to study for every day, stay after school, talk with the teachers and tell them you are getting stressed. Once you go back to the source, you can work your way through handling the anxiety.

Whatever it is, chances are I've been there.
If I can make it out, you can too.

Thank you for the advice !!!! and the support.

I guess i do see taking meds is neccessary at times, espcaily when it is bad.

Just wish there was some way just to get rid of it forever

I completely agree. But I guess we just have to see the positive side, fighting it makes us stronger.
