Re: Do you volunteer or do any community service? -

My school requires community service. Which I think is horrible, teens should volunteer because they want to not because they will get kicked out if they don't. Haha
I do a lot of volunteering at my school, the church that runs my school, and my church. I help out in the after school care program a couple times a month, with little events the churches run and with children's church Sunday mornings. My youth group also has a once a month "volunteering day" were we do random things. Last time we painted a couple rooms for the local women's shelter. I enjoy volunteering. We were made to be courageous. Everybody falls sometimes Gotta find the strength to rise From the ashes and make a new beginning Anyone can feel the ache You think it’s more than you can take But you're stronger, stronger than you know Don’t you give up now The sun will soon be shining You gotta face the clouds To find the silver lining |

I used to do a program called Adopt a block at my church where we would go door to door and give them groceries and help them. The people were usually really happy to recieve help.
And I fed the homeless downtown for several years, It is one of the biggest parts of my high school memories. Geek? Nerd? More like intellectual badass. ![]() "You ran through Africa, and Asia, and Indonesia.. And now I've found you, and I love you. I want to know your name." |

I feed the homeless at my church once in a while...I know it's not much but it's something. Last year, my family and I served them dinner on Christmas...it was heartbreaking to see little kids having to spend Christmas in a homeless shelter...but they somehow manage to just smile and be grateful

Yep. My youth group from church in the past has done some great community service, last year went down to DC for a weekend and helped paint a women's house, also worked in DC Central Kitchen which was a lot of fun.
Right now, I am actually a volunteer Firefighter in my town. It is very rewarding and i love it, before i even joined the department i spent many a hours helping them out at pancake breakfasts and chicken BBQ. I love it. Doing community service is really a great feeling knowing you are helping those people. "Being someone's friend isn't about what you should have done. It's about what you do." I volunteered with a project designed to help young adults with learning or physical difficulties. It was ridiculous fun, the people were amazing. I was so sad when I had to give it up.
Also, I volunteer on this awesome site called Teenhelp xD "Life is pain, anybody that says different is selling something" ~ Fezzik's Mother, The Princess Bride. ♥ "To die, would be an awfully big adventure."~ Peter Pan "Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. I started off volunteering at high school, just helping out with parents evenings, open days/nights, prefect and reading buddy.
Right now, I am a childrens liturgy leader and a girl guide leader, both voluntary. I love every minute of it and seeing what the children get out of it is so rewarding. |

I volunteer at my local hospital. I do it because I want to because my school forces me too.
I volunteer in A&E which mostly involves taking patients, relatives and staff tea, coffee, water, sandwiches and biscuits. I also volunteer in one of the wards where I do more administrative work and generally tidy up. I also talk to patients who don't have visitors at visiting hours. I love it

I volunteered at my sister's hockey tournaments, at school craft fairs and reunions, at a charity dinner and a few other places. I honestly can't remember all the places I've volunteered

I volunteer on TeenHelp
This is the only really 'frequent' volunteering that I do.Apart from that, there are various things I do at school for the community as we have a 'service' duty. We do different things at different times of the year, such as collecting food and clothing for the soup kitchen, visiting senior citizens and hosting christmas parties for them, as well as fundraising for schools in other countries. |

this is a really fun question.
yes. i love to voulenteer. i try to do as much as i can. i voulenteer at my local Humane Society on a regular basis. i really love to help the dogs become adopted. i am a voulenteer dog walker and dog groomer there. this way, i give the dogs some exercize (they really need it) and i make their coat beautiful so they have a better chance of getting adopted. i also do as much as i can anywhere else. i just got back from Christmas Caroling with my church. we sang for the assisted living homes for the elderly. i am also looking in to voulenteering at the Childrens hospitable. in the past, i have done cancer's Relay for life, harvest of love food drive, voulenteered at daycares, helped raise money for the salvation army and JDRF along with a few others from time to time. on top of that, im a buddy right here on TeenHelp =) i love voulenteering! (>^-^)> HUG <(^-^<) whether the weather is cold or whether the weather is hot we'll whether the weather whatever the weather whether we like it or not. |
