Need help redecorating my room - November 7th 2010, 03:10 PM

OK, so I''m kind of slowly trying to make my room less little-girl. I need some ideas

My furniture is fine, my bed's a canopy one but I took down the canopy and just have the white frame over the bed which I think is really cool. It has a black and white bedding set.

My book cases just have a ton of books on them, although the one I'm cleaning the little kid books off of and sticking em in the closet.

My desk is OK, just has desk stuff on it.

I have a little shelfish thing going along the wall and I have a callgiraphy of my name in a frame on it, and modern type frame with pics of me and my friends and so on, and a bulliten board and a collage I made of random stuff from magazines.

But the two major problems: It's pink. Pastel. Pink. And I can't repaint it till spring, if I even want to go through it then.

And my friend...well let's say she likes younger things and leave it there. The trouble is, at her birthday parties, she gives away fairy statues and so on. I have to have them in my room because she'll be upset if I don't, but they don't go with what i want at all.

Ideas? I jsut want sometihng that will totally change the tone. Like a big poster or something

Posters are a good idea, but if you put up too many it makes the room REALLY dark and claustraphobic. Plus when you take them down the paint peels off and looks worse than it was to begin with. If that's not the look you want you should probably just put up a few until you can repaint your room.

As for the statues, you could start a collection of stuff that reminds you of your friend. That way you can put the statues away to change the room's tone, but reassure your friend by showing her the collection. Both me and my best friend have boxes and folders of each other's stuff and it's really special and personal to keep it together in one place rather than scattered all over the room.

I hope that helps.

Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year.

It's perfectly fine to be a happy individual.

Take off at the speed of sound...
