Do you donate to charity?

I'm just wondering who donates to charity. I donate to things like Comic Relief and have recently donated £15 to the Red Cross funding towards Japan. I would have wanted to before but I never had any money of my own until recently. I mean, most of the stuff I buy for myself are quite materialistic (clothes, games, make-up and DVDs) so I'd feel bad not putting anything to good use.

I donate to charity, as much as I can.
I do alot of social work too, helping the poorer class of children with school and stuff.
But this was quite recent too. Like only a year back. I'm yet to Red Cross for relief in Japan. I'm a little low on allowance.

I know how you feel :/ I never donate any real amounts of money to any charity. Most of the time when clerks at stores will ask you to donate a dollar to such-and-such charity I will, but other than that I don't take time to donate.

I've talked countless times about volunteering at different organizations, but never have. I'm just too lazy I guess.

I try to donate to charity as much as i can, even if it just small amounts. I do a lot of fund raising with my family for a variety of charities. :-)

I've donated clothes and a small amount of money to Santa Claus at the grocery store for the Salvation Army, but that's about it. I can barely support myself (if you can call it that), so right now I'm just focused on taking care of myself.

I don't specifically donate anything as I don't have loads of money but once I'm earning in the future I'd definitely donate a percentage of my paycheck to charity

I do volunteer at a charity shop for The British Heart Foundation though, and of course I'm volunteering here

When I no longer have any use for old clothes and stuff, I always give them to charity and I do give money to charity when I can but I always feel like I could do so much more and I wish that I could give more because it seems like there are so many people in the world who are in need of help and support.

My family donates money and old clothing and such to charity, like Jake mentioned. Personally, I have donated little amounts here and there but nothing huge. But I think that every little bit counts.

If I'm at a store, and they have little boxes for charities to slip money into-- I put my changes, and a few dollars in there. Does that count?

I volunteer instead of donating. I feel donating rarely gets the money to whoever needs it. If I volunteer at least the relief gets to who truly needs it.

Like some of the others have said, once I'm earning my own money I'll probably donate more.

Yes. I donate money when I can but only to charities where I know the money will actually go to those in need. I also donate my time by volunteering and I donate things that I don't use anymore that could be of use to someone else.

Yes to a charity in a national level called Teletón It basically collects money to build rehabilitation centers for children and they have places were you can donate hair and what not. It's really nice.

Yeah, and also I try to give away old clothes (the good one! :P ) to charity, and food grains too. It used to be a compulsory thing in school too, so I guess that's good. (:

I also donate clothes that I don't use anymore or don't fit me. Being an impulsive buyer, I can sometimes donate one whole garbage bag of clothes. I don't think clothes are materialistic because there's bound to be someone out there even close to your size, and even if it isn't, do you think they'll mind whether it fits perfectly or not? They just want something to keep them warm!

Oh yeah! I heard the Red Cross keeps a good amount of money donated. I'm not sure if this is right (my teacher told me), but I'd suggest looking into that!

Yup I have a direct debit set up to take a certain amount of money out of my account and give it to Banardos every month.
I also volunteer for things and occasionally put stuff in charity boxes if i see them and have change. Oh and I get stuff from charity shops fairly often.

I do occasionally donate to charity although I am cautious when doing so as some charities take a percentage of the money for themselves which is not fair on those why should have recieved the money in order for help the vitally need so I would rather help people out directly when I can

yes. regularly give money to various charities and help with fundraising. i also donate my time by volunteering in a charity shop.

Well, my mom doesn't believe the money goes where they say it's going, so I was told not to donate. I feel bad for not donating, but I don't. I would rather actually go out to the location and volunteer.

I don't donate but I do do regular volunteer work. It is compulsory but I'm defo going to keep it up. It's really good knowing you're helping.

I have a Wee Box. Everytime i have change or my mum gives me money,i put some in the box, she gives me £10 a week and sometimes i want to put credit in my phone but i don't i put it the the box. So it's like me giving up something i want to help someone in need.

Yup, I only donate to places in my community or things that I believe in. For instance there are charities like world vision but only a small percent of your donation actually gets to the people who need it the most therefore I avoid them all together. Normally I donate to food drives and Christmas toy donations.

I've never really donated a whole lot to any charity...
I donate pocket change to things when I have it. Like the McDonalds foundation thing.. or those guys for the salvation army that come out around christmas. And I've donated clothes/toys to shelters before.. But I've never done anything major.

If I had a lot more money I'd certainly do a lot more.. I like buying things for other people more than for myself anyways. I'm just a broke college student who has $0

I donate when I can, but it's usually just pocket change. However, I don't have a job, an I usually only get a few dollars a week from my parents, and I'm sure no matter what the amount is, someone will be thankful for it. Pocket change, over time, does add up.

I donate - items usually, not money. For my birthday I don't let anyone buy me gifts, I always make them buy food or beds for the animal shelter...and if someone does give me something I put it towards the shelter somehow. And year-round I go through my house and give up clothes and items that I don't use, and either bring them to the Salvation Army or leave them out for Safenest.

I give my old clothes/books/toys/etc to charity when I've grown out off them.

i used to donate to the RSPCA but dont anymore due to money and job issues ect, but if im in a shop and i have like 10p change and theres one of thoose charity boxes i will say keep the change and i will tell them to put it in the charity box.

I try to donate when I can. My mother actually doesn't like it when I do - merlin knows why. I suppose she thinks I hand out money too much, too often. It's not like I donate great amounts or anything. I just put change into collection boxes for the Salvation Army and Cancer Foundations (any organization, really) if I have change on me when I see them. Which really isn't as often as it should be. I'd like to donate more, and enough to be able to truly help somebody out. Especially with the earthquake/tsunami crisis in Japan right now.

I don't give monetary donations to any charities, because I don't earn any money for myself. I'm dependent 100% financially on government loan, school scholarship, my parents, and my brother. I don't feel comfortable giving away something that isn't mine. I do donate my time though (: I've volunteered at a local hospital for the past 6 years now, and I help run a chapter of a non-profit organization in my university. My parents and my brother donate monetarily, and I think I will too when I start working, but yeah... time will do for now (:
