Can I learn to love to run? - August 12th 2011, 07:09 AM

So, I'm an athlete.
I hate running though.
ESPECIALLY when I'm made to.

Is there anyway I can learn to love to run? xP
Cause right now, I absolutely hate it.
I need to though, because once softball ends we have basketball, and well..
I'm gonna have to be in shape for that and our new coach believes in RUNNING, RUNNING, RUNNING. Xp

Listening to your favorite songs while running can help, it gets you pumped up and makes you want to move
Also, once you see how much running helps and how good it makes you feel you will probably hate it less, thats what happened to my friend.
I know running is tough, but its worth it in the end. Good luck at all your games

I do not see how this is relevant TH is apparently being spammed :P

I only enjoy running when I'm really fit...when I'm fit enough to run at a steady pace for a while without feeling like I'm about to have heart failure, it feels good and I get really into it :P However, if I haven't exersized in a while, and I just decide to go for a run, it feels horrid, physically and mentally. It seems to me that running requires a different kind of fitness then other activities or something. I play team sports, and am generally an active person, but then I try to run and I might as well be 80 years old :P So if I want to start running regularly I work on my general fitness level for about 2 weeks before I try. Go powerwalking, do some home exersizes (sit ups etc), skip, whatever you like really! If you're the same as me, the run will be way more enjoyable if you're prepared for it. Just go for short runs at first and don't push yourself too much...build up your fitness slowly. Also setting goals in regards to distance, speed etc, is really helpful and a good motivater good luck!

I agree, that's the only time I really enjoy running. Or if I have really upbeat music blasting in my headphones while I'm running I feel better. Or, I find it best to run when I'm angry.
