Thumbs down She won't listen - January 12th 2009, 10:11 AM

My mum has always pushed me to do what she wants and she pushed me into doing a levels which i don't want to do and all of my teachers can see that i don't enjoy it and that i'm struggling i'm currently doing the AS section of the course and my teachers have advised me that i would struggle further if i carried on to A2. i have talked with the guidance counsellor at school and told her that i wanted to do music technology and all my teachers agree that it would be great for me.
but my mum said no because she said there's no future in it was her only excuse (which i know is not true because i have researched it) and i tried to explain that i really do not like school and that my teachers feel that i'm struggling but she won't listen.

That's always a tough one.

It is YOUR life though, and it is important that you do what makes you happy. Maybe have another try and talking to your mum, sit her down and carefully explain your reasons for what you want to do, and if it doesn't work - perhaps one of your teachers could talk to her for you? Maybe they could explain that what you are currently doing is not right for you?
