Well there's not alot you can do. Bunking college is not a good idea. if your teachers find out they can actually kick you off the course. Best solution go college, and be yourself, and sort your hair out afterwards and maybe if your hair dresser is that bad get a different hair dresser ?

Hey Justin, I understand that it's important to you that you make a good first impression and that you want your hair to look good. Going with "messed up" hair will make a better impression than not showing up at all. Also, while there are good excuses to miss school, your hair isn't one of them. Being sick or having a family emergency or loss tend to be the only acceptable excuses.

Believe me, bunking off college is not a good idea. They're much like school in that they will call your house to find out where you are and why you're not in. Even if I emailed my course tutor to explain why I couldn't make it in, the reception desk would still phone, it was protocol.

You said before you have a hat you like, why not wear that? Or go back to the hairdresser to have it fixed?
I doubt anyone will laugh at you, and your mum is right. Staying off college is a bad idea. The first couple of weeks is when everyone makes friends, isn't it going to be worse for you to walk into a class full of people who already know each other? Not to mention the work you'll miss.
If they found out why you stayed off they can easily take you off the course and put someone on a waiting list in because the way they see it, you don't want to be there.

Best thing you can do is just go and get it over with. If anyone laughs at you, just laugh with them and it'll be forgotten soon. No point staying off for a superficial reason that won't matter in a few months time.

Do not bunk off college.

It would not be a good habit to start before even your first day, and I quite frankly am sure that the people you'll be with will have the ability to be quite mature enough to treat you well enough regardless of your hairstyle.

Sorry if this isn't the answer you want to hear, but you don't want to be off just because of something like this.

One other thing - enjoy college! Don't stress about your hair, enjoy new experiences and meeting new people .

Like everyone is saying skipping school is a bad idea. I can understand wanting to make a good impression but that's not an excuse to skip school. And honestly, if you skipped a week right off the bat and came back like it was no big deal I'd think your an idiot then, I'd personally care a hell of a lot less over a hair cut. So you can't really win in my opinion.

And skipping cause your hair cut isn't up to par is a shotty excuse any how. Your mom is saying no for good reason. Legitimate excuses include important appointments (medical or otherwise), health issues (colds DO NOT count, the flu where body fluids are coming out of every orifice does!), having to attend a funeral or other family emergency and so on and so forth does count. You'll notice that "I had a bad hair cut" is NOT on the list of excuses to skip school.

What you should do is go get another hair cut, call around until you find an opening and go. Or you can just shave your head, I really don't care (although I am sure you do rank with those who'd care). You can probably even call your salon and tell them you REALLY hate your hair cut, that the person didn't do it right at all and that you'd like them to do something about it, most places will compensate you, like offer to redo it asap for free.

So frankly as far as I am concerned, unless you can get a last minute appointment, there isn't a whole lot you can do unless you plan to skip without permission and take those consequences. You aren't going to get permission from your mom, the school won't ok it and purposefully making yourself sick is, to be honest, incredibly irresponsible and more likely to do a lot of harm and absolutely no good

Lastly, unlike what MedusoidMycelium said it isn't likely you will be kicked out of a course for skipping a few days of school. Maybe if you never go (ex. by missing more then a week) then you'd risk suspension, expulsion or failure depending on school rules or you'd just automatically fail the semester/course you missed to much. I know in my high school I just risked suspension if I skipped to much. In my college I just risk failure especially in courses where I get a portion of the grade directed at my attendance and class participation. At least no one is tattling on you in college to your parents
