Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University degrees question? - September 30th 2013, 07:39 AM

Hey! So I want to be a commercial airline pilot for the German airline "Lufthansa" when I am older. I am in 10th grade at a private school and I'm doing very well. I already have plans on attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott Arizona after high school is finished.

I am very confused on what degrees I have to take, and frankly. When it comes to college and finding out what degrees you want to take I'm lost... I know I have to earn my pilots rating, instrument and commercial rating but I don't know what else?

Help would be valued!

Hey Matthew.

Have you thought of contacting Lufthansa and asking? Or any commercial pilot, really.

Otherwise, have a look here http://www.be-lufthansa.com/en/home/#/en/jobs/pilot/

Do you speak fluent German? Is a requirement for Lufthansa

Feel free to email/PM/VM/whatever me if you want. I'll answer as soon as I can.

DANKE! Ja, ich spreche Deutsch! (That's German for "THANK YOU! Yes, I speak German!" I am learning at home through the Berlitz method on the computer, I listen to German radio and have all my electronics and even my xbox in German (to get used to the language.)

I would look here http://www.lufthansa-pilot.de/ apparently it lists the more specific qualifications you would need to be a pilot with them (I speak/understand NO German, so I think that's what this is)

Also, here is the list of programs for the college, but I can see why it's confusing http://prescott.erau.edu/degrees/index.html

You could always request more information or call the school if you have questions. Colleges really enjoy recruiting people, so they'll try to answer your questions as best they can.
