Should I re-sit if I get lower than a C? (AS Psychology) - May 18th 2014, 10:51 PM

I have a horrible feeling I'm going to get a D in AS Psychology this year. Should I re-sit if I get lower than a C? I would like to have a C or higher but I know I will still be accepted on to A2 Psychology even if I have an E. I don't know what to do if I do get a low grade :/ I know I haven't had my results yet (hell, I haven't even sat the second exam) but I'm just trying to think ahead.

In my opinion, no. AS Levels don't really make much difference compared to the A2's and at A Level in general C's and D's are a good pass, it's not just an average one like it is at GCSE level. If you get a D at AS and choose to resit it then in your A2 year you're going to be taking focus off your A2 exams whilst studying for any AS exams you resit which may not be the best in the long run.

I got quite a few C's and D's for my A Levels. I'm not sure what you're planning on doing after you've finished the A Level but plenty of places, including universities, accept C's and D's for their courses.

I hope this helped!

It depends on your understanding of the class. If you think you understand the material, then move on to the next level. If not, retake this one. Sometimes you can have a good grade even if you don't really understand the class, or not have a good grade and understand it. As the above poster said, a few Cs or Ds don't matter for college, but understanding definitely does. I had to retake algebra 1 this year - I was getting Bs last year but I didn't understand anything. I'm so glad I took it again.

Hope that helped!

Thanks guys in my head these grades are the same as GCSE's. I asked my friend yesterday and he said he had two D's in his A Levels and he got into uni fine.

I THINK I want to go to uni. I'm not entirely sure yet.
