Should I go back for a second associates degree? - August 26th 2014, 12:52 PM

So I will have an associate of arts with a psych concentration in December and I only have 4 classes left to get a paralegal degree in May. I don't really know if I want to stay in school that long - it is only maybe 5 months after I get my first degree that I get my second one, but I just don't know .

Since you're so close to having the second one already, if I were you I would go ahead and finish it, especially since a degree in psychology won't get you very far without graduate school of some kind. I know 5 months may feel like a long time now, but it's only one semester.

Do you want to work as a paralegal? It would be a waste of money if you do not want to work as one.

If you want to work as a paralegal I would say that you should go for it. If not I think you should explore the options you have with the degree in psychology. Maybe you could explore furthering that degree instead?

I'd say go for it unless you dread it and do not plan to do anything with it.
If that is the case, than the best option is to look for volunteer oppurtunities in your area related to Psychology (such as working at domestic abuse hotlines etc.)
Then, apply for a program so you can farther your psych education because as Katie mentioned, you can not get far without a masters in Psych.

I kind of want to be a secretary, not a legal one, just a secretary.

I'm thinking that after I graduate in December and I do not get a job within the time frame between semesters, which is a little over a month, going for my paralegal.

I think that sounds like a decent idea. Although, it can take a while to get a job after graduating from school so a month might be cutting it kind of short. However, I think if you really want to you should definitely go back to school and do the paralegal degree.

I wish you the best of luck with this.
