Hey there,

I'm sorry to hear about this!

You said that one of your teachers said that you are always late to class. What are the reasons behind you being late? For instance, is it a matter of your school bus being late dropping you off? If that is the case, perhaps you can talk to an administrator about this and if they do prove that your bus has been dropping you off late, they may be able to work something out with your teacher since it's not your fault. If it is a matter of your parent/guardian/ride dropping you off late, perhaps you can tell them to start leaving earlier so you can get there on time. If you're walking, start walking earlier. It IS your responsibility to get to school on time, after all. Perhaps if your teacher refuses to tell you the assignments, you can ask a classmate for the notes?

It may also help if you stay after school with teachers of classes that you are struggling in so you can get some extra help. Sometimes one-on-one explanations can really help, or having things explained in a different way.

You can also study with other classmates. This again will offer you a better understanding of the material, but it will also possibly get the work done faster and you'll have more fun doing it! Sometimes multiple heads are better than one, but make sure who you are working with stays on task!

Does your school have a guidance counselor? Perhaps you can talk to them about some of the issues you are facing and see what they suggest?

I hope this has helped!

As Dez said, it IS your responsibility to make sure you're getting to school on time. While it might seem like your teacher has an ugly attitude towards you, she is more than likely trying to teach you responsibility and that your actions have consequences. In this case, the consequence of being late is missing out on the assignments given in class. If you can determine the reason for your tardiness, you'll be able to come up with a solution that will help you get to class on time. For the time being, try asking a classmate to keep you informed on anything important that you may have missed.

Are you struggling in your classes because you are having a hard time understanding the material? If that's the case, there are a number of things that you can do to try to boost your grades. Would it be possible for you to make an appointment with your teachers to meet after school? Talk to them about it and see if they can make time to meet up with you and talk to you about the areas in which you are struggling. They might be able to explain concepts to you in a different way than they did in class, answer any specific questions that you have, and help you make sense of the homework if you are struggling with it. They may also be able to provide you with additional resources to help you get a better handle on the material.

If talking to a teacher makes you uncomfortable or isn't possible based on your schedule or theirs, look into forming a study group with classmates or finding a tutor. The benefit of forming a study group is the fact that all of you will be going through the same material at the same pace. In addition to this, each member of the study group will be able to bring different insights or study tactics to the table, which you may not have thought of on your own. The benefit of having a tutor, on the other hand, is that they are generally well-learned in the subject that you need help with. They are similar to a teacher with the primary difference being the one-on-one time that you get with them. Because of this one-on-one time, they will be more able to find a way to best teach you the subject in a way that you will understand.

Best of luck getting your grades up!

What everybody said was awesome, so I'm just gonna add one thing. I would recommend that in the future, you time-manage better and write down all of your assignments in a planner, have a calendar, and be extremely organized about your work. It is very rude of your teacher not to help you, but unfortunately, it does come down to your own ability to organize and do your assignments. Being timely and getting to class on time along with attending class regularly is also extremely important for academic success, so even if she may not be the nicest about telling you, you need to make sure you're on time.
