this semester - March 6th 2016, 07:52 PM

It's a 3 page paper. Professor said "It shouldn't take more than 3 hours to write. About 1 hour for every page. You'll need more time to edit of course but it should be written in one sitting"

Well guess what...it's taking me DAYS. Still havent finished.

I have other classes. This class is a 100-level course

I have a hard time participating in class this semester too I just cant bring myself to do it. Even if I have something to say. And this semester there's a lot of emphasis on class discussions. Previous semesters I'd have trouble with 1-2 classes but this semester it's all 5 at once. I honestly feel like I will do really bad this semester.

I've been getting something along these lines from people since 2nd grade until now even: "but Susan, you end up doing well so what's your issue?" The amount of stress that it takes to do well is the issue and the possibility of putting all this stress (effort?) into this and not even doing well. Possibly failing.
I just cant relax how everyone wants me to. But it's my last semester so I should just go through the jungle's thornbushes and pick off the thorns poking my body after I get to the other side, right?

I've never been able to write anything, let alone a 3 page paper, in one sitting. I really don't know why your professor said those things...it's rather unhelpful and puts a lot of pressure on everyone. It's also annoying when teachers think that you only have their class and seem to forget about all the other classes you have.

I've never been good at class discussion either, but you can only do your best. The problem with having a good academic track record, is that people seem to think that no matter what the work is, you'll do well. They seem to forget that you are human too and the stress of all the work does get to you. I think it might be worthwhile reminding them that even though you've done well in the past, you still get stressed with the work, just like them. You don't have to try to live up to others expectations of passing the classes easily and not letting the stress get to you- that's just suppressing your own emotions which is unhelpful.

I know you work very hard, and I'm sure that whatever the outcome is, you can be reassured that you tried your best.
