Using TeenHelp as a way to booster my job propects - May 31st 2018, 11:29 PM

I have recently been using TeenHelp as something I mention in job interviews. I don't give the name of the site or a lot of detail but I often tell people in interviews when they ask what I do in my free time. I tell them I have done various roles here helping people with mental health problems and also moderating and helping maintain various parts of this website.

It's obviously not something I go straight to I talk about all my experience in work first then sometimes I decide to throw it. I find that when ever I mention it people look very impressed by it. I just thought it's a great idea to any other former moderators like myself or people who are still moderators it's worth talking about. I make it sound better then what it is all I did was maintain one forum compared to some people who manage like 3 or 4 I find it helpful to mention and talk about I have a feeling it helped me get my most recent job.

I am proud to mention this and proud of what I did on here during my times as a moderator.

Hey Justin,

It can actually be a really good idea to mention volunteer work on a job interview and in some instances a resume. There are some places that like to hear that a potential employee volunteers especially if the volunteer work is related to the job that they are applying for. Of course, paid experience should always come first but if you are someone that has minimal paid experience then mentioning volunteer work can help. I used TeenHelp on my resume for a number of different reasons and a lot of the people who interviewed me seemed impressed with all the volunteer work I've done here and offline. If you are someone that has paid experience then you don't have to highlight the volunteer work as much but I have heard some employers say they love to hear about volunteer work in some way.

Best regards.

While I have not mentioned it myself, I know that volunteering here can be very useful for people because they can talk about it on interviews, but also because the site helps people learn new things. I think that the site allows people to connect with and communicate with people they may not have before, and also just learn more about topics they might not have known about otherwise.

I could be wrong, but I also heard that you can get a letter of recommendation from TH.
