Need help with english! - June 10th 2009, 01:38 AM

Alright, here is my problem:

I did a unit test a few weeks ago and just got the results on Friday. We had to do a presonal repsonse and a c.a.r.l (critical analysis response to literature or litterary essay) and i did really bad on both of them

Apperently my problem for my p.r is that i accidentaly "retold" the story instead of putting my own grasp on it but i think i understand my mistakes so i don't really need help there

My MAIN issue is with the C.A.R.L. My format was treally good (which saved my mark from being a complete disaster) my problem is that I stated the examples like i was retelling the story.

So how do I say examples without retelling the story and how do i get alot of examples from a short story?

You're amazing just the way you are

PEE. Point, Evidence, Explaination.

1) Make your point
2) Give evidence, a quote
3) Explain your point. What relevance does your point have? How does this carry through?

In subjects such as science and math you have to treat the examiner like they're a moron and explain everything. In English you assume that the person marking your essay knows the prose/poetry/drama inside out and so you don't need to tell the story. "PEE" is something I was taught YEARS ago but I'm doing a level now and still use it -- it's a good system to use!
