Group interview? - July 3rd 2009, 07:08 AM

I have an interview on Saturday to work at a local fair, and I'm trying to prepare. I've done plenty of one-on-one interviews and phone interviews, but I've never been interviewed in a group. I'm just wondering what kinds of things I can expect - do the interviewers put forward a question, and everyone takes turns answering? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

then they will not care how devout you have been,
but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by.
If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them.
If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life
that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

I have only been to one group interview and there were 4 of us there and there were 2 interviewers. What they did was the told us about the job like what to expect and what would be expected of us and then the asked us a question each, it was basicallly the same question but they worded it differently. They use the same questions as they would in a single interview.

Best of luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

I went to a group interview and there was a few of us. They got us to fill in these forms and there was two interviewers who called us over on at a time to ask us questions and then, cause it was at a game store, we had a chance to play on guitar hero and stuff to see if we'd get involved and so on and we had to solve some problems etc that we'd face while working there to see how we'd deal with it.

It could be something similar? Or like said above. It depends how they choose to do it.

I had a group interview once. It was for a department store, there was about 20 of us and 5 interviewers, we each got given and item and had to sell it to the rest of the group. Then we were put in group and we had to solve a problem to show team work skills.

Then we were taken one by one to have a single interview.

I think it varies according to what the interview is for. I have had quite a few group interviews and at the ones I have been to there has always been a lot of people, which makes it really difficult at times to get your word in. Since there is always a few people who try to take over the interview. The group interviews I have been to have been discussions and it is up to you to get involved and you don't get a set task that you do individually. But yours could be different.

Best of luck with it! Just act confident even if you don't feel it

I've had not many group interviews but usually the interviewer(s) ask each person a question, you may get the same one or slightly different or completely different. They also tend to analyze your group-working abilities, so they may play some group games or do something else to see how you react with others. They may also ask your some scenario questions that may involve only yourself or also other group-members.
