Going to the Cyber Academy - August 5th 2009, 10:18 PM

I'm pretty nervous, as it's my first year of high school. Does anyone have any experience with attending an online school? If so, what should I expect?

Someone save me from myself...

I hope you don't think I'm like, stalking you, since I've replied to two threads now. If you do, rest assured - I have better things to do than stalk people I see online. Alright, anyway, haha.

Okay, so I took AP Calculus online my senior year in high school [which was this past year]. The biggest thing to remember is that you don't have someone breathing down your neck the whole year about deadlines, so you must be sure to make them yourself. At the beginning of each nine weeks, you'll probably have a pace chart to fill out. Once you've filled out your pace chart, you need to live with, sleep with, breathe with it. It's very important that you follow this pace chart so that you don't get too much piled up at the end. If you want to get ahead, of course, that's great. Also, get to know the teachers (via email) at the beginning of the year - they'll alert to you as to when they're having online review sessions - go to the review sessions. These will help you infinitely. And yeahh, if you don't already have a microphone/head phones, that might be a good idea to get for the year.

I'm sure you're not taking from the same company I took my company from, but I think some of these things are universal for online classes. Good luck!
