Starting a new school - August 24th 2009, 03:44 PM

Does anybody have any advice for starting a new school? Terrified as I might be I'd like to read some case studies of any of you that have changed schools mid-term or simply how they dealt with the fear of starting a school for the first time.

Yes, I'm going to a new school in September and I'm having sleepless nights... Worried about not fitting in because I'm not joining at the usual time - we had to move because my dad got a new job...

Hey there!

Staring a new school is definitely terrifying! It's been a while since I moved to my currant school, but I still remember how scared I was because I didn't know anybody there. But it all worked out in the end for me! So I'm positive you're going to be fine.

Just go in on your first day with confidence! You mightn't actually be feeling confident the inside, but nobody needs to know that, eh? Smile! Everyone loves smiley people, and you'll seem like a much more approachable person! Everybody has been new at a school at some stage, so I'm sure you'll do just fine.

Definitely join up to clubs as soon as possible. That's the best way to get to know like-minded people! Don't be afraid to go up and say hey to somebody, that's the only way you're going to get to know anyone. [:

Basically, just be yourself, because I'm sure you're wonderful just the way you are. I hope you have an amazing year ahead of you. We're all here if you need any support. Take good care of yourself.
