I feel stuck - October 16th 2009, 05:06 AM

I don't know where my life is going, I have no direction or goals really at this point. I went to this orientation earlier today to go to free career training courses, and realized even if I go to school, that doesn't guarantee me a job. Some of the people at this orientation were unemployed and had worked as nurses before being unemployed, I had thought nursing was a growing field! Everyone at this orientation was there because they were unemployed and wanted to be retrained for something else. Except for me, I have never had any training. But anyways, going to school, picking a career I have to stick with for the rest of my life, the whole bit just scares me to death. I'm also scared I'll go through the school and not even be able to find a job! I sort of have a job right now, I got called to work seasonal at IRS but that's only for 3 months. I want something more permanent. I just don't know how to do it. I feel like I'm failing!

You're not faaaailing

DOn't worry I and many other people were exactly the same, choosing university courses and a place to go for hr next 3 years of m my scare me to death too, and I hate the fact cause I don't feel ready to choose yet! You must have hobbies or something you enjoy? Or have seen something you thought you might like to try?

Maybe get a few ideas down and see if you can do a bit of work experience for them, things like that can be organized and will give you a much better ideas of careers...

Is there something you feel passionate about?

Try not to think of it as being forced into making a decision now, but rather you've been given all this freedom and you can choose what you like

Personally I chose a place on a very very broad course which could lead to lots of careers I liked, but then at the last minute changed my mind Im now not doing that am looking for work, and looking to go onto a very very specialized course next year

Also maybe speak to a careers advisor person, they honestly are brilliant and will help you get some direction without doubt And if you have a general direction you can then pick a general course will find out LOADS more about subject and then find a career you want to do within it .

I don't think I'll have answered everything so anymore questions...feel free

How can one love themselves, when they love absolutely nothing?
Do something that is interesting. If it is not interesting, find out why it is not interesting.
