Thomas Hobbes...Sovereignty by Institution and Sovereignty by Acquisition - October 18th 2009, 08:53 PM

First, I really dislike Thomas Hobbes.

Second, I really dislike Political Philosophy.

Third, why am I in Political Philosophy?

Fourth, does anyone know anything about Hobbes' theory on Sovereignity by Institution and Sovereignity by Acquisition and what his actual conclusion about these two are? Because I have no idea, and that is what my essay is on. I just have to explain his argument that leads to the conclusion that the acts of the sov. are always the acts of each of the subjects and that no subject can be wronged by the sov. Does anyone have any helpful hints to get me started on that point? Also, I have to answer if sov. by acq. has these powers, why does Hobbes bother talking about contract and consent?

Any helpful hints and beginning guides would be so helpful because I'm so stuck on this essay! Thanks in advance !

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

All you need is love
Love is all you need
