Parents coming to uni interview? - January 25th 2009, 02:35 PM

So, my mum hasnt seen the universities i want to go to.

She will be driving me to the universities, like 6-8 hour drives and things.

So the university interview also includes, a tour, general talk about the course, and things. Just really checking that people have family there? Or whether they are even allowed?

Excluding the actual interview obviously.

Parents are encouraged to come along with you so they can help you make a decision and point out some things you may have missed.
When I was going to interviews at unis everyone had their parents or an adult with them, it's very unusual that they do not have someone there with them.

I did not have my parents during the physical interview, but they did walk around some of the various campuses with me. To be honest, I preferred going into the classes and talking to students without my parents, but I felt like they deserved to see at least some of the university that would be sapping their money.

Most often people have their parents or another form of adult there to support and help them. Having your mother there will allow for you to get her opinions on the different Universities as well as your own. Her opinions may be different from yours (different perspective) and therefore should be able to help with some decisions.

She will also be a good support for before and after interviews =)

Good luck!

I took my dad to all the open days, but he sat outside in the waiting area with other parents whilst i had my interview. It will be good support to have your mum there

Well, both my brothers had one parent there, and they didn't seem to think thats was odd, and they aren't the sort of people who cling. They won't be allowed into the actual interview, but its actually quite good to take a family member with you on tours, because you can talk about what you have seen.
