Question Hamlet - November 5th 2009, 07:48 PM

Im doing some course work on Hamlet. I have chosen the scene where Hamlet seens his fathers ghost. I have chosen the ghost for the character I want to study. I have to write about my characters first line... Which is "mark me" And To be truthful I dont know what this means ?

Ok

a) I can either try and explain to you what this means and you can go away and have a go at your coursework not having gained the meaning yourself and so struggling further on

b) you can chose a character you do understand whose lines you can follow.

I'm not trying to be mean here but if you're struggling at the very beginning of your coursework, you're going to struggle all the way through

google it?. or alternatively go and see your english teacher and ask for some clarification. or, have you got any friends who have chosen the same character/scene? maybe you could ask them what they've written for this bit. generally at gcse [i assume it's gcse?] teachers will help you out quite a bit.. so make use of it! :]

without giving too much away...think of the phrase "mark my words". "mark me" and "mark my words" have similar meanings, and by what I know, similar origins.

I want a moment to be real
Want to touch things I don't feel
Want to hold on, and feel I belong
And how can the world want me to change?
They're the ones that stay the same
They don't know me, but I'm still here

I know your not trying to be mean or anything. I was talking to the teacher about this and I got moved English sets because my old teacher always passed bitchy comments, so I joined this set half way through. My new teacher said that doing this scene and this character would be easest for myself... I have told him I dont truely understand the whole thing, and he only says to find help somewhere else or get on with it myself, and thats when I came to teenhelp.org
