I lack motivation - November 16th 2009, 07:37 PM

Stupidly lack motivation I know full well I could pass everything quite well if I done all my work to the best of my ability, I just seriously can't be bothered. I have the time but I seem to get sidetracked and post on forums, facebook, play sims 3 and watch TV I know full well it's my own fault and feel like an idiot making this thread but could someone give me some ideas/tips to make myself do homework? Maybe if I make a homework routine I'd be more inclined to do it.

i have the same problem.. i dont really know the answer to that question. the only thing id suggest is to tell yourself to do your work before you go on facebook and stuff. so maybe tell yourself "im going to get this paragraph done, go reply some messages and look at forums nad stuff for five minutes, then im going to get anohter paragraph done.. etc."

yeah thats about it.

Hi there Ceilidh,

I've had a few ideas that you could try.
  • Think of the end result, and how it would benefit you to finish your homework.
  • Start a homework group, and set a time to do the work - you'll be amongst people who can help to motivate you, and you can motivate them as well.
  • Write a list of what you have to do, then check them off one by one when you have completed a task. Doing this can give you a sense of satisfaction in getting a task done, because it's one less item on your list.
  • Reward yourself when you complete a piece of homework. It will give you more motivation to finish the work.
  • Do you homework in a room free from distrations.
Good luck!
